Nothing is going to stop Nel Parker from raising her fledgling real estate agency to the top of the heap. When she returns two dogs to a million-dollar mansion with a dumpster in the driveway, she thinks the house is her lucky break. But the owner turns out to be a moody professional baseball player with a complicated agenda of his own, leaving Nel to fear her plans for real estate domination are doomed.

Centerfielder Grey Kemmons is spending the off-season renovating the house he inherited from his father. It’s a miserable job, but he’s doing it anyway—because somebody has to pay back the money his father stole. When a spitfire of a woman in a surprisingly attractive package shows up wanting to list the house, he agrees to pacify her with a tour, never expecting the mutually beneficial business relationship that ensues.
As weeks go by, business turns to pleasure with Nel and Grey believing the temporary nature of their time together will protect their hearts. Too bad nothing can protect them or prepare them for love.

Psychotherapist Maggie Collins has always been a little off the proverbial wall, but now she’s also knee deep in a delayed quarter-life crisis. With her meager paychecks devoured by student loan debt, a car payment and rent for office space, living at home with a flighty, folk-singing mother seemed like a good idea…at first. Now Maggie’s not so sure. She wants space to sort things out and launch a life of her own, but she needs a cushion of cash to get there. When an unexpected phone call brings an offer Maggie can’t refuse, she’s one deal with the devil away from moving out of her mother’s house.

The devil of contract negotiations, baseball agent Jordon Kemmons, has a problem the usual experts can’t fix…his star pitcher is too depressed to throw strikes. Even worse, Jordon’s post-divorce grudge against women is turning him into a raging mess. If desperate times call for desperate measures, then cynical Jordon has made the most desperate move of all. He’s hoping sexy psychotherapist Maggie Collins is the answer to all his rusty prayers.

Soon Maggie and Jordon are fighting an attraction that threatens everything they’ve ever believed. If it’s not just physical attraction…if it’s something more, maybe two wrongs can make a right.

Excerpt for Change My Mind:

The light above the front door showered her in yellow, sparkling in her hair. Her face was shadowed, but he could see her drawing her bottom lip between her teeth. He should be concerned about her revelation. Instead, he wanted to flick a thumb across that lip and free it from the torture she was inflicting on it. Then, he wanted to turn her face to him and kiss away her worry.

He was officially crazy, wasn’t he?

“My agency is small. What it lacks in size I swear to God I make up for in heart, but sometimes  …  sometimes that’s not enough. Like when we’re talking a million dollars and the house across the street just got listed by the top agency in the city.” She looked at him, pulling her brows together, pursing her lips, and generally staring at him like he was a great buffoon. “Are you listening to me?”

“Not really,” he said, offering a smile in his defense.

She huffed. “Why not?”

“Because all I can think about is doing this.” He gripped her chin between his thumb and finger and tugged until his mouth met hers.

Her jaw tensed, and for a few long seconds, her lips didn’t move. But then she exhaled, warming him with her breath and relaxing her mouth enough for him to slip inside. She tasted like she smelled. Black coffee with a hint of peppermint; and damned if his body didn’t crave a double shot of caffeine.

He slid his hand to her neck, smoothing the curve of her jaw with his thumb as he deepened the kiss, exploring her mouth, stirring an overwhelming need. He wanted her, had to have her. Right here, right now.

She pressed palms against his chest, scorching his skin. But when she pushed again and her neck muscles clenched, it was like a bucket of cold water, dousing the flames.

He let her go, even though he didn’t want to.

Prepared to apologize, Grey shifted his weight to put more space between them, hoping she wasn’t too angry. Nothing about the kiss felt forced, but never again would he think he knew what a woman was feeling.

She blinked at him, her eyes a liquid blue in the porch light.

“Why’d you do that?” she asked, tracing her fingers over red and swollen lips.

There were lots of answers to choose from. He could play it smooth and self-assured with a ‘because I wanted to.’ He could go with romantic, which for him usually meant something uncomfortable and cheesy, like ‘because I can’t get you out of my head.’ Or he could do what he did best, deflect.

He grinned. “I wanted to help you out.” He hitched a thumb in the direction of the FOR SALE sign across the street.

“Now that’s the least of your worries.”

The midday sun had heated the air to an unbearable level, and I understood why the word siesta existed in certain hot countries. In fact, it had turned into one of those days where the only thing you want to do is open the refrigerator door and stand in front of it. I couldn’t take it anymore, so I grabbed a quick bite to eat in the cool of the air-conditioned snack bar and returned to my room, intending to stick a film in the DVD player and chill out until the rays lengthened. The opening credits were rolling when there was a knock on the door. It couldn’t be the maid. When I’d returned, the bed was made and my top had gone to the big dumpster in the sky.

I pressed pause. “Who is it?”

“Manager.”

What? Why? Had someone reported my drunken antics? Had Nessie not cleaned up my mess properly and the maid had complained? Mum would love the excuse that we were forced to go home because I got us thrown out of the hotel.

“Just a minute.” I quickly tied a sarong around my bikini bottoms and opened the door, mentally preparing an apology, and totally unprepared for the sight that met me.

Casually leaning with an elbow against the door jamb and one ankle crossed over the other was a familiar figure. His dark head lifted with a crooked smile.

Our eyes locked, and for one brief moment I was too shocked to speak. A warm tingling radiated out from my chest, down my arms and legs, and my body weakened. What was he doing here?

I managed to find my voice. “Manager, huh?”

“Figured you might not open up if you knew it was me.”

I’ll open anything you ask me to.

Josh’s eyes flicked past my shoulders. “Are you alone?”

I nodded. “Yes.”

“Can I come in?”

I stepped back on shaky legs, and he squeezed through the gap, brushing my arm with his as he passed. His electric touch gave my nerves another jolt.

He walked over to the balcony access and slid it shut. “Are you going to close the door?”

Hadn’t he just done that? I faltered for a second before realising what I was holding. “Oh. Yeah. Right.” I let go of the handle. The door latch caught, and I leaned back against the fire notice. I needed to sit down before my legs gave way, but the only place to sit was the bed, and as much as I wanted to, I couldn’t go there. He might get the wrong idea. So I went to the dressing table and perched on the edge, hoping it was strong enough to support me. An uncomfortable silence ensued.

Josh stared leisurely through the glass at the view, and I stared at him. The white cotton of his T-shirt was fitted enough to show the contours of his muscular back, and his hands in the pockets of his beige, linen shorts stretched the material tight across his buttocks. My mouth went dry with an overwhelming need to touch him. I couldn’t believe he was here, in my bedroom. If I’d fallen asleep again, and was dreaming it all, I didn’t want to wake up.

Finally he spoke. “You stood me up.”

“I wouldn’t say that.”

“Okay, walked out on me.”

“Yeah.”

“Girls don’t do that.”

I bet they don’t. “Did I dent your pride?”

He swung around, and with two slow, purposeful strides, he was standing in front of me, his nose six inches from my face. “No.” He angled his head. “I understand why you left. It was a shock for me too.”

I struggled to keep my breath even. “It was?”

“You were the last girl I expected to see.”

“Sorry to disappoint.” Why was I smart mouthing him when he’d done nothing to deserve it?

His lips curved into a smile. I’d never noticed his dimples before, but then I’d never been lucky enough to see them this close. “I wasn’t disappointed,” he said.

“Really? You’re not pissed you didn’t get the quick leg-over you were expecting?” Shut up, Amy, before your mouth ruins everything.

His eyes fell to my cleavage. “That’s Jacko, not me.”

The way he was undressing me with his eyes said otherwise.

Excerpt:

Reggie
I make my way from behind the bar and spot their table. Drake, Presley, Grady and Darcie are sitting around, laughing and sipping their drinks when I approach. She really looks happy with this douche; it makes my heart sink further. I release the frustrated breath I was holding and walk right up to their table.
“Hey, Reg, it’s fucking crazy in here tonight,” Drake says.
“Yeah, that’s why I’m here. You guys should leave. It’s way too packed and I can’t keep an eye on you and everyone else,” I say, looking straight at Darcie.
Grady instantly recognizes I’m addressing Darcie and stands to challenge me. “I don’t know who you think you are, but I can take care of her myself. Back the fuck off.”
“You’re in my Goddamn bar and if I want you to leave, then you’ll leave. So get the fuck out before I toss you out on your ass,” I seethe with anger. It’s been a month in the making and I’m ready to lay this fucker flat.
I ball up my fist and roll my head from side to side, loosening up my muscles. Grady moves around Darcie, getting dangerously close. He stands a few inches shorter than me and breathes his beer laced breath in my face. The corner of my mouth lifts slightly as I get this gratifying urge to punch the guy’s face.
Jake and Jeremy come from the pool tables to stand behind me. Jake is bouncing like he’s on a pogo stick. His excitement is impossible to contain because he knows I’m about to kill this dude. “I’ve been waiting for a fucking month for this to happen. Knock his bitch ass out, Reggie!”
Drake protectively moves Presley behind him, but places his hand on my shoulder. I jerk my arm forward. No one is going to stop me from destroying this douche bag. “Lay off, Drake. You aren’t stopping this.”Drake steps back and joins Jeremy and Jake a few feet behind me. They have witnessed my murderous rage before and know I am beyond the point of no return. I square my shoulders and roll them back. Clenching my fists open and closed, I glare down Grady, careful to never break our gaze. The bar turns deathly quiet as a crowd forms around us. Here we go. I’m ready to knock this useless piece of garbage on his ass. My feet turn as I ready myself to punch Grady in the face then I see her.
Darcie moves from behind Grady and stands beside him. “Reggie, please. Don’t do this. We’ll leave okay. Just…don’t do this.” Her face is pleading. The anger starts to slowly dissolve. Darcie has the uncanny ability to convince me of anything. The boys often take advantage of it because they know I can’t say no to anything she asks. I start to relax, settling my tense muscles. I can’t hurt her. Not again.
Jake shouts from behind me, “Darcie! He disrespected Reggie in his own bar and deserves to get his ass handed to him. I remember a day when you would be on our side. Now you’re a fucking traitor!”
“Fuck you, piss ant!” Grady shouts back to Jake.
This situation is spiraling out of control quickly. Darcie’s face falls as she looks like Jake slapped her across the face. “Jake! Shut up! Don’t say that to her!” I shout back to him.
Grady’s glare turns deadly when he steps within inches from my face. “You know…you’re really starting to piss me off. She’s not your girl! She’s mine!”
I’m ready to blow. She’s not his! She will never be his! Darcie is mine, forever! I clench my fists again and ready myself to destroy Grady once again when Darcie moves between us. Her hands are on my chest, pushing back against me. The smell of vanilla perfumes the air as Darcie wedges herself between Grady and me.
I break my gaze from Grady and meet her pleading, jade colored eyes. She’s my solace. When I look at Darcie, I find peace in a world filled with shit. I relax my fists and bring my hands to the side of her face, just like I’ve done so many times before, but this time, like the few times before, is different. This time, I want nothing more than to press my lips to hers. As we look into each other’s eyes, time stands still. Everyone else disappears. It’s just us. For a split second, she glances at my lips then back to my eyes. Her head nods slightly and before I can make my move to kiss her, Grady pushes against the back of Darcie and tries to cheap shot me in the jaw.

What reviewers are saying:

“Starting with chapter one this book held my attention. The legends in the book told around the campfire gave me goose bumps and the supernatural creatures; Necrocritters, dark hooded guards with swords and red hooded priests added a lot of layers to this story. Not to mention the Fallen Ones!
At times I wasn’t sure how things would play out because there were so many challenges facing Nathan and his friends. I really enjoyed the climax of the book and could easily see this book adapted as a movie. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Nathan and his friends…but you have to read the book to see if they all make it out” ~Reviewer

“It’s terrific! I love your wise-cracking hero, who finds himself thrust into these bizarre circumstances with no real guide. And I love the set up of the supernatural world and these well-defined characters. The supernatural conflict and the relationships that took root here will be able to take you through book after book. That eerie, spirit realm where everything is gray except for the people – sound doesn’t behave as it should – and objects are frozen in place, is really imaginative and creepy. It’s got a strong cinematic feel and it creates tremendous atmosphere. In short, you’ve done some terrific world building here that’s highly imaginative and peopled with appealing, interesting characters we can care about.” ~Reviewer

“Well?” He suggested.

A neon sign flashed in the window that read Walton Ink.

“What? A tattoo? Now?

“Why not? You just want a little one. Who cares.”

“But we were drinking…,”

“We’re immortal. You’ll heal before you even have a chance to bleed. Come on, let’s go see if this guy’s licensed.”

I followed him, glancing both ways nervously as I crossed the street. Cole held the door open for me, and I thanked him, my voice far-away and unfamiliar to my own ears. I’m just missing home. It’s been a long, horrifying couple of days, and I’m exhausted.

The artist ended up being a woman, and she was covered from the neck down in art. She listened to Cole and answered his questions while I looked around, trying to rationalize what I was doing. Will is going to hate this, I already know it.

“Do you want to pick out a stencil?” She called to me, and I held my hand over my lower, right abdomen, through my shirt.

“I already have one,” I replied with a smile. Cole narrowed his eyes, confused, and I pulled from my memory the eighth note I’d sketched long ago for when I got my first tattoo. I rolled up my shirt, and sure enough, the sketch had transferred from my mind to my skin.

“Small,” she commented, nodding with a friendly grin. “Simple. With all that fiery hair, I guess I expected something flashier.” She moved to the back of the shop, and Cole bent his mouth to my cheek.

“Why the eighth note?” He asked, his breath warm on my ear.

I lifted my face to his, noticing for the first time that there were flecks of green in his brown gaze. “The prophecy. My parents had seven chances to give me life. Somehow, I was given another chance. An eighth life. And I lived. I’m meant to live.”

The light buzzed above our heads, dimming slightly. Those eyes of his locked with my own gaze, refusing to let go. His face was far too close to mine. The smell of cigarette smoke and alcohol filled my senses, strange but pleasantly intoxicating. His lips, almost fully covered by his dark stubble, hovered near mine. My eyelids grew heavy, and we both exhaled at the same time.

He pulled his mouth away and quickly pressed a kiss to my forehead.

“Of course you were meant to live.”

He was too close one moment, and so distant the next. I have absolutely no interest in any man but Will.

My heart thundered in my chest, my pulse racing. I blamed the adrenaline, the alcohol, my nerves, my fear… anything but the confusion of what Cole was making me feel.
