4.0 Star Review – Texas Redeemed
I recommend this book.
Valerie is a single mother. Raising her daughter, Lucy on her own as Peyton, the father left after a one night stand and has yet to return. She has dealt with a lot of pain and sorrow of the last 13 years. She was disowned by her uncle so she ended up with no family and friends. Peyton was her best friend and after heated words he disappeared.
Peyton is back in town after 13 years. He is a doctor and was called home by his grandfather. When he gets back he is shocked that his former best friend is raising his daughter by herself. He is the long lost town bad boy. He left town and had no idea that he left Val pregnant. She is not mad at him as it was a one night stand and since he didn’t know about her being pregnant how can she be mad? When he comes back to town she tells him he is the father right away.
Val feels she needs to protect Lucy from her father. He left before how much damage with that do to her and Lucy if he leaves again?
Will the love Peyton has for Val ever be returned? Is Peyton willing to fight for Val? Does Val still love Peyton? Will she risk her heart and Lucy’s too?
This was a good read. You get a few side stories in this book. The author fills in the background of the characters and you never feel wanting for information. It was interesting as usually when a woman in the book has a child and the man leaves she tends to hide the fact the baby was his. In this book that is not the case and I think it made it better. The romance side was a little light. The book is more life story than Romantic story. Look forward to the next book from this author.
About Isla:
Isla Bennet’s first encounter with a smoldering hero was on the junior high school bus—between the pages of a novel. Books have been her constant through growing up in the Midwest, partaking in some wicked travels, and working as a bookseller and nanny while earning two college degrees. She’s studied everything from English to sociology to art, and has figured out that she loves meeting people—particularly the ones she makes up. These days she indulges in her weakness for carpentry and all things retro, and dives into a new love story every day as a writer, freelance editor and RWA member—all while pursuing her wish to become a horseback-riding, volleyball-playing, French-speaking seasoned traveler.
