Hers has been a life of too many responsibilities and his has been a life of too few. Could the thing that initially repelled them from each other finally be the ultimate source of attraction?

Holly Adams has two jobs in the city, two petulant teenage sisters to support, a farm with a big mortgage and a terrible secret that propels her forward. Brad Winchester has a reputation for being a spoilt playboy who has abandoned his family business but he also has a secret that has finally brought him home.

When they are forced together at work (Holly works at the cut-throat PR Consultancy that handles his family’s account Winchester Homes – “They don’t build homes, they build dreams”)  a series of misunderstandings has them at odds.

Still working together they learn they have more in common than either might have imagined – common friends, family loyalty and dreams of something different. When life keeps pushing them in each other’s paths they must decide whether this is an attraction that might be worth building on after all.

About the Author:
Monique is an Australian author who writes contemporary women’s fiction including chick lit and romance. She lives on Sydney’s Northern Beaches with her husband and daughter, and despite a dog phobia, has a dog called Skip.

Monique has written all of her life, especially as a child when she loved to write short stories and poetry. At University she studied Creative Writing as part of her Communication degree. After wards she was busy working in public relations and didn’t write for pleasure for quite a few years although she wrote many media releases, brochures and newsletters. (And she still does in her day-job!)

When Monique began to write again she noticed a trend – writing dark unhappy stories made her unhappy. So she made a decision to write a novel with a happy ending and she has been writing happy stories ever since.

Bradley Winchester dove into his red convertible BMW and discreetly followed Holly home. She was fascinating. Mesmerizing even. He’d never seen anything as erotic as that woman bent over the car hood fixing her engine and snapping her knife shut against her thigh. It was primal and capable and so completely foreign to him. He was used to women who needed help to open their champagne let alone fix their cars.
He knew from the minute he walked into the EPR boardroom today that Holly Adams did not like him. He was an hour late, but that had been a genuine mix-up. His secretary had given him the wrong time. He was normally fastidious about punctuality. However, he knew it was more than that.
Holly Adams had him pegged as a guy punching above his weight, so to speak. She saw him as a guy who was handed a job on a silver platter that he wasn’t qualified for. She was right to an extent, but she didn’t know the full story and he couldn’t tell her, even if he wanted to. Not that it had been any of her goddamned business in the first place. He had tried to smooth things over with her at the time and she had been nothing but courteous but her distrust of him was obvious.
Holly did a left-hand turn into a driveway. It was the driveway of St Anne’s School for Day Students and Boarders. Why was Holly going into an exclusive girls’ school at seven at night? He turned into the driveway and shut his lights. She had gone right so he turned left and pulled his car into a park behind a bank of trees. He got out of the car and watched Holly. She parked. She went around to the passenger side and hauled out her briefcase. He watched her head towards a doorway and it swung open…light spilled through the doorway and an imperious woman filled its frame.
“Cutting it fine aren’t you Miss Adams?”
“Nothing to worry about Sister Evangeline, I’m here now.”
The door slammed and the yard was dark. Brad looked along the bank of buildings. Brad had dated a few St Anne’s girls back when he was in high school but he’d never been to the school before and never at night.
Upstairs he could see school girls talking on a veranda. He saw Holly approach. She was backlit and her golden hair looked like a halo.
“Holly! You’re here!” One girl trilled. “I have so much to tell you!”
“OK Maddy, you will have to wait and tell me after study hall. Come on girls everyone inside. You all know the drill.”
Holly Adams worked at the school. How fascinating, Brad thought. He had so many questions.
He saw the downstairs door open again and the large woman peer out.
“Who are you? We don’t need any Peeping Tom’s around here. You’ve got two minutes to skedaddle or I’m letting the dogs out.”
Oh heck, thought Brad, and he climbed in his car and burnt rubber getting the hell away from St Anne’s.

“It blows my mind you can look like you do and not see it for yourself.”

Her throat tightened. Why did he keep saying things like this? Couldn’t he just drop it? “Please, stop.”

He stepped closer and dropped his hand to the swell of her hips. “I love your hips and the way they fit perfectly in my hands, your nose gives you character, your thighs… Jesus, I can’t even think about them without getting a hard-on, and your eyes make my heart race like a schoolboy with his first crush.”

Karma stood on her tippy toes and went in for a kiss, but Jax pulled back, laughing. “You’re not getting out of it that easily. We’re crossing another one off your list.” He pulled her down the stairs into the pouring rain.

“You’re crazy, Jax!” She laughed, tilting her head up and spinning in the rain like a five-year-old. When she came to a stop she looked up and Jax was staring at her so intently it took her breath away.

He yanked her toward him, and his hands slid down her back to the curve of her waist. His legs widened as he pulled her closer, and she could feel the hard ridge of need through his pants. “You’ve been driving me crazy all evening,” he said roughly.

Wild desire tore through her body as the rain pelted down on them. Jax bent his head and his lips covered hers. A moan of pleasure escaped as her hands slid up and gripped his shoulders. The response to his body was overwhelming. She was trembling and it had nothing to do with the cool rain.

Jax pulled her tighter, as though he never wanted to let her go. One of his hands released and cupped her breast, his thumb caressing her rigid nipple. A shot of desire ignited between her legs and her breathing became ragged. The burning pleasure was instant and spread throughout her.  Her body was ready for him, moist, warm, and drunk on desire.

[Book Spotlight & Giveaway] The Stone Series by Kitty Berry

The Stone Series Spotlight Banner

Siblings In the third novel of The Stone Series, Tate Taylor will discover new talent in a young Sebastian Morrison and his band, Dominate. Sebastian is a musician who gets more than he bargained for when he sends a demo to the famous Tate Taylor at Taylor Studios Inc. After listening to the demo Tate flies to Sin City with his cousin, Damian in tow to see Sebastian perform with his band. When Sebastian takes the stage the resemblance is uncanny, Sebastian’s talent is obviously not the only thing he and Tate have in common, Sebastian is the brother Damian never knew he had. As Damian watches him perform he suspects he and Sebastian share more than just blood. After signing a contract with Taylor Studios Inc., Sebastian and his band head to New York City with Tate and Damian. While in New York and struggling to write his own material, Sebastian finds a muse in Skyler, a beautiful model at Hot Stones, Damian’s agency. Skyler’s inspiration helps Sebastian launch his career but that’s not all he wants or needs from her.

Stoned If you want to watch as Brook and Tate’s relationship continues look for the second novel in The Stone Series. In Stoned we will meet the charming Damian Stone, the quintessentially intense urban male, sexual Dominant and Tate’s younger cousin. He is wealthy, powerful, successful and painfully gorgeous; Damian dominates over everyone and everything both in his work and in his pleasures. Each semester for the past seven years he’s trained a young college girl to submit to his every sexual desire at the sex club he owns. Damian can have any woman he wants and for seven years that is what he has had. But the sexy, confident, and commanding Dominant is growing tired of the same old game. Shortly after telling his best friend that he is done with the life of submissives, Sydney Cooper falls at his feet. She is a strong, young interior designer despite her traumatic sexual past but Damian immediately senses her submissive tendencies. After meeting Sydney, Damian realizes that he only thought he had everything he wanted; now that he’s met Sydney he realizes that what he wants, what he needs is her. Damian seduces Sydney into a life of BDSM and finds himself falling in love for the first time. However, Sydney’s past is not all that stands in the way of their happiness, Damian’s past connects them in a way that may destroy them forever.

Sliding In the first book of The Stone Series, Sliding, Brooklynn Adams is all grown up, married to her adolescent crush, Tate Taylor and living the high life. Tate is a wealthy and powerful music executive in New York City and Brook is a famous choreographer who works alongside Tate and his best friend at their entertainment company, Taylor Studios Inc. To the outside world Tate and Brook have it all, love, money, friendship, and power but looks can be deceiving. After Brook’s miscarriage that he blames himself for Tate flees to the West Coast with his best friend and business partner, Bobby, under the disguise of business. On the fateful morning Brook is scheduled to fly to meet her estranged husband of six months she finds herself looking into her mirror. She is faced with a decision, should she answer her phone and miss her flight to California or run like hell and head to Tate? Brook must decide the path her life is going to take and the focal point of the novel explores her options while she walks through each “door” to see where it will lead her. It’s the parallel tracking of two possible destinies, essentially the what-if scenario. Little moments in time when we question which decision is right and which is wrong, both can change your life forever, leading you down different avenues, times like these that are impossible to go back and change. We watch as Brook enters into the center of two significantly different trajectories.

Meet The Author

I reside in the suburbs of Fairfield County, Connecticut with my husband and three sons. I am the only woman in a house of men! During any given evening you can find me curled up in bed reading while in the next room my men scream at a sporting event on the TV. I am an only child who never wished for a sibling and I openly admit to being a spoiled brat. To this day the word “no” does not go over well with me. I am the daughter of an avid reader, the “real” Kitty Berry. I decided to write under the pen name, Kitty Berry in honor of my late mother who passed away in 1998 from breast cancer. It was my late mother’s desire of becoming a writer that prompted me to create the characters that I place in worlds of wealth, power, seduction, dominance and submission. My love for reading and discussing literature didn’t come to me until my late twenties. Angst-ridden romances, from the moment a man meets a woman and they fall into an unstoppable infatuation with each other, always mesmerized me and fast-paced entertaining mysteries as well as witty “chick lit” contributed to my desire to not only be a reader but also a writer. I recently found myself at a time in life when the busy balance of career and family made me crave an escape into the world of romance, but this time with an erotic twist. Multidimensional characters such as powerful dominant males who seek a woman who is submissive in their bed but who offers them a challenge in their life, spurred on my creative spark to write about seduction. I love dark chocolate, music inspires my writing and the theater is a place I wish I could go to each and every night. I plan on enjoying all of those things with my husband and friends as soon as I’m done driving carpools, attending youth basketball games and coordinating the social life of my three adolescent children who have way better social lives than I do.

We come to this secluded area of beach where I notice a large kind of hut with fire torches and fairy lights. Tate leads me to the hut and inside there are two massage tables, one for each of us side by side touching each other. There is also a king sized bed just beyond the tables and on each side of the room there are bamboo screens. As we step inside two women dressed all in white step in behind us and zip the front panel of the hut closed. They instruct us to each go behind a screen and remove our clothes, telling us there are robes waiting behind the screens. We do as we are told and meet back each on a table. We slide under the covers and remove our robes so we’re lying naked with a sheet over us.
Tate smirks and quietly asks me, “Is this all right? The girls? There is no way I can relax with some dude rubbing me or worse…you.”
“Yes, it’s fine” I respond.
“I asked for a hot stone massage for you, I know it’s your favorite but if you want something different they can do anything you like” Tate informs me.
“No, I’m good with the hot stones, it is my favorite. This is amazing Tate, really you can be so romantic when you want to be” I say.
As my gaze is drawn upwards I notice that instead of a ceiling of material I am treated to a ceiling of stars as the hut is open to the California night sky. The masseuse begins to spread oil on my body and I hear the first cords of “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz begin to play. Tate reaches out and finds my hand. I feel the hot rocks as they are slid under my back one at a time. Tate squeezes my hand again on the last words of the song and I hear him sigh. I’m not sure if it’s caused by his masseuse or the words from the song he chose to play for me. There is no doubt that Tate has made yet another playlist to speak his words for him.
I drift off for a bit while the front of my legs, arms and chest are being massaged and when the masseuse starts on my face and head I rouse a little and hear Nelly Furtado’s “Try” playing. I wonder if Tate really means that he’s ready to try, ready to try to give me the one thing that has been missing in our lives. I glance over at him to find him looking at me with tears in his eyes and I know it’s true; when I hear “You’ll be Blessed” by Elton John.
I climb off the table not caring in the least that I am naked in front of two strange women; I lay on top of my husband and plant kisses all over his face. He wraps his arms around me, and kisses me gently on the lips.
“We need to talk about a lot of things first Brook…starting tomorrow. I think we need counseling but I want to try. I’m going to need a little time to process all of this but I promise we’ll make this work… you and I. I love you, Brooklynn Taylor” Tate chokes out through tears that are forming and threatening to fall from his eyes.

The Masseuses aren’t sure if they should stay or leave at this point and they keep alternating between looking at Tate and looking at the ground, they are very careful to avert their eyes from my naked body that is still lying atop my husband’s. I decide to climb back onto my table to finish my massage. I lay on my stomach and I hold Tate’s hand while my back, neck, head and feet are rubbed with hot rocks and oil. They are smooth as silk and the more I think about it this experience is actually very erotic. I’m being rubbed by another woman in front of Tate while yet another woman rubs him. All of a sudden I decide I don’t really like the idea of him getting any kind of pleasure from another woman rubbing him. When I turn to look at him he’s staring at me. He smiles, knowing exactly what I’m thinking about and he mouths, “Only you baby… forever.” It’s enough to get me through to the end of our massages and I have to admit I am a bit aroused.

FBI Field Office, Atlanta, Georgia

I’ve studied Chelsea since the FBI teamed us up when I was twelve. She has a move…classic Chelsea. She turns the doorknob and her body stiffens, a metal rod shoved down her spine. As she sets a high heel inside the interrogation room, her southern accent and soft manners are buried beneath a terrifyingly sleek, blond exterior in a perfectly pressed pinstriped suit.

Four years of practice, two custom-cut suits of my own, and I still look epileptic when I try to project that sense of total control. Of I’ve got this. Even though I don’t have her drawl and my posture’s not bad.

I follow Chelsea, stiff as can be, into the room with the bright white walls. Our sicko suspect glances up from the steel table in its center. I flinch at his chilling stare. Flinching already, see. A slow smile bulges his cheeks as he studies me. Attention from a guy in an orange jumpsuit sitting at a steel table—to which he is handcuffed—is what Chelsea would officially term an undesirable outcome. More undesirable—me showing I care. Like she always says, “Don’t let ’em see you sweat, hon.”

No way am I giving this psycho the satisfaction. I suppress a shiver as the air conditioning kicks on with a groan. Tiny goosebumps break out on my forearms, raising the fine hairs to attention. Can’t rub myself warm—that’s a tell. Instead, when Chelsea slides into one of the fold-out metal chairs across from him, I follow her lead and take comfort in her giraffe-like posture in the chair next to mine.

Chelsea tosses a manila folder so that its contents spill across the table. The file details his alleged heinous crimes, the FBI’s efforts to track him, and the blood evidence in his garage that matches that of the latest missing girl—Georgia State art major, vegetarian, and more important to the suits, daughter of a local bigwig. Funny, the things you remember from a file when they have nothing to do with the case, like how she specialized in collages. They’d found cut-up pieces of magazines littered across the desk and floor of her dorm room. The pieces trailed into the hall like flower petals down a church aisle.

The strewn high-gloss photos of his suspected victims—his own personal collage of the young, female, and carved—don’t solicit a cringe from him when I can barely hold down my water and I’ve been staring at them for weeks. My gaze flickers to the one-way mirror—a silent promise: We’re gonna nail this freak.

“I’m FBI Agent Chelsea Tanner. This is my partner. How are you this evening?”

This is normally when a suspect will ask, with understandable outrage, why I’m party to the interrogation because aren’t I, at almost sixteen, too young to be in the FBI? Pinstriped suit or not, I look my age, maybe even a year or two younger because I’ve always been small—childhood malnutrition will do that to a girl.

It’s the suspects who don’t care that I’m in the room who worry me. Like this guy, whose pale eyes flicker to my throat.

I fight the urge to shift, even to clench my fingers tight into a fist. I don’t blink.

“Fine weather we’re having this winter.” Chelsea manages not to smirk at our sitting in a windowless room. Her face is unbreakable. “These are perfect skies for a getaway. Do you have plans for the weekend?”

When he doesn’t answer, she shares our itinerary—a leisurely drive to Savannah to visit her mother at their family wintering home. Yes, that’s a thing. The trip always involves mint juleps and wide-brimmed hats, not that Chelsea shares the finer details. A genteel background rarely earns cred with criminals.

She chit-chats as if he’s not imagining the slice of his boning knife into my neck. The careful incision he would carve against the clavicle, removing the flat bone from the ligaments attached to the shoulder. I don’t need my unique magic to know what’s on his mind. Some things in the case file stick for a reason.

My bone structure fascinates him. His gaze caresses my cheekbones, roams over the bridge of my nose, dips into the hollow of my neck, and brushes the stray dark corkscrew curls that drape over my sternum.

Don’t move. Don’t blink. Don’t even breathe.

“Savannah’s so beautiful this time of year. Any time of year. I go as often as I can. Don’t you think you should make time for family?” The word rolls off her tongue in three syllables, a rare ray of southern shining through her otherwise stiff facade.

Fah. Mil. Lee.

He closes his eyes as though in prayer. When he opens them, his pupils dilate to nearly black and he rubs his thumbs over his knuckles. He does not take the bait.

Come on, Chelsea. You work your magic and I’ll work mine.

That’s our deal. She gets them talking. I make them spill their guts.
