    My Review:
    4.0 Star Review – Dream World – Book #1

I recommend this book for age group 12 – 15 year old.

Debbie is a thirteen year old girl.  She is awaiting her mother after school when she witnesses a horrible accident in which her mother dies.  As her mother was on her way to pick her up Debbie, she deals with feeling guilty that her mother died because of her.

Debbie spends a lot of her time daydreaming about Joshua Lawson, a star on TV.  She fantasizes about him to block out her grief over losing her mother.  When she is not daydreaming and grieving she is trying to hang out with Wendy her best friend.

Debbie used to be best friends with Karen but now Karen has other friends.  Karen is a mean girl with issues that come from the way her family treats her.  She has her own little group of friends with follow her around.  She really does not care about her friends one way or the other she is using them.

Mark is an American boy who is staying with his grandparents while his parents (who are in a band) tour with his cousin.  He wanted to be away from his parents as they made him an outcast in his school. His parents promised to show up for events at the school then failed to show.  So the kids in his school thought he lied about them being his parents and treated him bad.

     About Sarah:

Sarah Hitchcock was born in Norfolk, in a small town called Kings Lynn.  She always was a keen reader, and one day decided to attempt to write her own, and never looked back.  Today she has many novels in various stages of editing and re-writing.  Her current WIP, is in the final stages of editing, and will be out later this year as an ebook.

After finishing high school and then training to work with children, Sarah started her first job. She currently works as a pre-school teacher.

Sarah has four children, and three dogs, and a partner who has had to put up with her rambling on about all her WIP’s.

She recalls spending hours thinking about her characters and their storylines.  To this day, she often falls asleep thinking about where she can take new and old characters.

    My Review:
4.7 Star Review – Hot Mess – Hostile Operations Team #1.5

    I highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed this book by Lynn Raye Harris.  Look forward to the next book in this series.  Lynn managed to stuff heartache, a missing person, murder, and hot sexy passion all in the same book!!

On a side note the cover is drool worthy.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading this book first from “Hostile Operations” series.

    Hot Pursuit

H.O.T Team member Sam “Knight Rider” McKnight was sent to check on his best friend’s sister Georgeanne Hayes. Little does her bother know but Sam has lusted after Georgie (or “G” as he calls her) for years but he knows that he is not good enough for her. He has been avoiding her for years for that same reason.

When she asked him a favor to look for a missing person she fears something happened to he cannot deny her request. In researching the missing person he finds out that Georgie herself is in danger. Now he must protect her from the unknown with the help of the rest of the H.O.T. team.

Georgie has wanted Sam since she was fourteen years old. Being with him day after day as her is her protector brings back all the feelings from when she was younger. She wants Sam and she will have him. As time goes on she knows she loves him but he is pushing her away at every opportunity. Can she get him to realize he needs her as much as she needs him? Or will he leave after this protection detail is over and not look back?

I love that you can really feel the chemistry between these two in this story.   Lynn really let you feel the push and pull between the two no matter if they were talking or having sex.  At one point I really wanted Georgie to smack Sam… but she didn’t. Loved that Georgie came right out and told Sam what she expected from him.  If she could have just gotten him to listen a little sooner she would have had less heartbreak.  Loved the tattoos on Sam some guys can pull them off some not so much.  All in all a really great read!

Look forward to the next book in this series.

     About Lynn:

Lynn Raye Harris read her first Harlequin Mills & Boon romance when her grandmother carted home a box from a yard sale. She didn’t know she wanted to be a writer then, but she definitely knew she wanted to marry a sheikh or a prince and live the glamorous life she read about in the pages. Instead, she married a military man and moved around the world. She’s been inside the Kremlin, hiked up a Korean mountain, floated on a gondola in Venice and stood inside volcanoes at opposite ends of the world.

These days Lynn lives in Alabama with her handsome husband and two crazy cats. When she’s not writing, she loves to read, shop for antiques, cook gourmet meals and try new wines. She is also an avowed shoeaholic and thinks there’s nothing better than a new pair of high heels.

Lynn was a finalist in the 2008 Romance Writers of America’s Golden Heart® contest, and she is the winner of the Harlequin Presents Instant Seduction contest. She loves a hot hero, a heroine with attitude and a happy ending. Writing passionate stories for Harlequin is a dream come true.

The car ride was silent. Or would have been if not for the incessant meowing of Georgie’s cat.

“You know something, Sam?” Georgie said, and he started at the sound of her voice breaking into his thoughts when the cat had almost become white noise to him.

He shot her a glance. “What?”

“Maybe I don’t want you to be good. Maybe I want you to be as bad as you can be.”
Sam gripped the wheel of his truck and stared straight ahead. Jesus. “Don’t say shit like that to me, Georgie. You know I’m not going there.”

    She snorted. “Boy, do I.”

    “Georgie—”

“No, don’t you Georgie me. When you stopped that night…” He could feel her looking at him, her eyes boring an angry hole into him. He told himself she was reacting to everything that had happened to her today and taking it out on him. This wasn’t really about something that had happened twelve years ago. It was just a convenient catalyst.

“When you stopped that night, I thought there was something wrong with me. I thought I wasn’t sexy enough or special enough for you. And that hurt.”

“Of course you were,” he bit out. “But you’re Rick’s little sister and I was the wrong guy for a lot of reasons. I stopped because you were special.”

“You were the one I wanted.”

He swallowed hard. “I couldn’t do it, Georgie. I couldn’t do it and look Rick in the eye ever again. Or your parents.”

She didn’t say anything for a long moment. “You know who was my first?”

“Goddamn it, I don’t want to know.” His voice snapped in the interior of the car. Even the cat went silent. Sam closed his eyes. He did not lose his temper. Not ever. But she made him forget all the vows he’d ever sworn to himself.

Georgie folded her arms over her chest. “Fine. But you know what you need to remember right now? Here it is, so put it front and center in that brain of yours and keep it there. I’m not your sister, and I’m not a kid anymore.”

Sam sat there in stony silence, uncertain what in the hell he could possibly say. No, she wasn’t his sister. But it was safer for him if he thought of her that way. He wanted to keep her in a safe place in his head, but in the space of a conversation she’d gone and thrown her grappling hook over the walls he’d erected and torn them right down.

She thought he had trouble remembering she wasn’t his little sister. No, what he had trouble remembering was that he was no good for her. Because damn if he didn’t want her. He wanted her every possible way he could have her.

[Blog Tour & Spotlight] ILLICIT AFFAIRS by Jo Matthews, Bec Rose, N.J. Cole

Today it’s my pleasure to welcome NJ Cole & Jo Matthews to my blog

For all of my readers who may not be familiar with your work, could you tell us a bit about yourself:

NJ Cole: I have three published books. My first was Midnight Caller which is a paranormal BDSM story. The second was Landslide. This is a love story of submission between a young woman and a powerful older man. Finally I have a short story in Illicit Affairs called Second Chances.

Jo Matthews:  I’ve been editing online stories for a few years, but recently expanded into the world of publishing by editing Midnight Caller and Landslide by NJ Cole, and Embrace Me by Rebecca Turley. I’ve also worked on a few others that have yet to be released.
Working so closely with the authors, they gave me the confidence I needed to try my own hand at writing, and Unexpected Journey is the result.
I’ve also dabbled a bit in cover design, and find that it’s an aspect I really enjoy. Illicit Affairs is one of my designs.

Please summarize this book for the readers here and advise if it is a series book or a stand alone one….

NJ Cole: Second Chances is a stand alone short story.

Calla Moretti married her college sweetheart, Bill. Married life was great at first, but as his career had her dropping out of college and moving away from her family and friends, Calla struggled with her role as a wife and homemaker. Stress due to infertility and Bill’s affairs, had the marriage on the brink of failure. When she drives home in the middle of a thunderstorm and spots first a broken down motorcycle, then the sexy rider, she decides to take a chance and offer him assistance. Realizing fate brought her together with a man who could give her the one thing her husband couldn’t—a baby—Calla decides to take a chance. One romantic night, one big lie, will it save her marriage or fill her heart with more emptiness? Will this be the answer to her prayers? In life, are there truly second chances?

Jo Matthews:  Illicit Affairs is a compilation of three erotic tales with women giving into their darkest desires and pursuing the forbidden.

In Unexpected Journey, Sarah thought she met her soulmate in Mitch Chandler. High school sweethearts, they married right after graduation. Eight years later, he is a stranger to her and their marriage is on the rocks. In a halfhearted attempt to placate her, Mitch suggests a trip to Hawaii, but schedules a business meeting to write off the expense.
Aaron Johnson, Mitch’s friend and business partner, agrees to help with the presentation and plans are made for all three to go. What happens when Mitch backs out at the last minute to spend a romantic weekend with his secretary, forcing Aaron’s hand so that he has to accompany Sarah alone?

How much research do you have to do when writing a story?

NJ Cole: It really depends on the story. For Second Chances I did a bit about places in central New Jersey. For other stories, I’ve done quite a bit more research.

Jo Matthews: I didn’t have to do too much research for this story, but I did make sure that things were accurate. I looked up places in Hawaii that were known for snorkeling, I looked up flights/flight times to see how long it would take them to travel and where they would stop. The rest was prior knowledge of locations and information.

Do you have a favorite book of the ones you have written that you like the most?

NJ Cole: Midnight Caller holds a special place in my heart.

Jo Matthews: Well, since Unexpected Journey is my first book/novella that I’ve written, I’d have to say this one. 🙂

What are you currently working on?

NJ Cole: I’m writing the sequel to Midnight Caller, Midnight Eternal.

Jo Matthews: My plate is a little full right now. I’m currently working on editing Roadside Service by B.L. Wilde (due to be released September 27, 2013). I’m also editing bits of Midnight Eternal by NJ Cole as she writes it, and working with B.L. Wilde on her upcoming book Desire: Part 1 of The Seductors Series.

Do you have a street team or fan club your readers can join?  If so how can they join?

NJ Cole: I have a room where my readers like to hang out. https://www.facebook.com/groups/313768308708806/

    Anyone over 18 is welcome.

Jo Matthews: I have an Author Page on Facebook that people can join if they’d like to follow me. All they need to do is like the page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jo-Matthews/584982844878100

Do you have a favorite Author(s) that you like to read?

NJ Cole: I’d give anyone a chance 🙂

Jo Matthews: I love reading books by NJ Cole and B.L. Wilde. They are both incredible authors who have continuously inspired me to do more, including writing a story of my own. I will never be able to thank them enough for that!

What are 5 things that you’d like our readers to know about you and your writing that they might not know?

    NJ Cole:
    1. I truly feel like my characters talk to me.
    2. I write their stories as they tell it.
    3. I like to write with other people in the doc.
    4. I can’t think of any more 🙂

    Jo Matthews:
    1. NJ, Bec, and I have written this book together, but we’ve never actually met in person.
    2. I believe in helping other indie authors out in any way I can. I’m an administrator with The Hive Book Reviews and love to put together promo posts for new and established authors.
    3. I’m a stay-at-home mom, drive a minivan, and am on the PTO for my son’s school.
    4. While my husband supports my writing and editing, he refuses to read any of my work, calling it “Mommy Porn.”
    5. When I’m not sure of a grammar or punctuation rule, I actually take the time to look it up. Grammar Girl is one of my favorite websites. 🙂

Thank you both for taking the time to answer my questions.

    Unexpected Journey by Jo Matthews

Sarah thought she met her soul mate in Mitch Chandler.

Will an innocent friendship turn into something more as Aaron’s attraction for Sarah grows? How will Sarah manage when she realizes that Aaron is awakening feelings in her that she’s never felt before? The sexual tension burns hot as these two embark on an unexpected journey that neither are prepared for.

    Excerpt:

The flight to San Diego was quick, though the one to Hawaii was considerably longer. Somewhere over the Pacific, Sarah fell asleep; the day had obviously taken a toll on her emotions and exhausted her. I wasn’t really tired myself, so I grabbed a magazine from the caddy in front of me and started flipping through it. Not ten minutes later, she shifted in her sleep and leaned over, her head resting on my shoulder.
I froze in place, unsure of what to do. Part of me was screaming to wake her up or at least move her, while the other part of me—the part that tended to take over in any man when there was a sexy goddess nearby—wanted me to savor the moment. I must have warred with myself for three minutes straight until I decided it didn’t matter. There was no harm in letting Sarah sleep on my shoulder on a plane to Hawaii. No harm at all, considering her husband was the one who put us on the flight together.
Unable to resist any longer, I turned my head into her hair and breathed in her intoxicating scent. She smelled like wildflowers and sunshine, and I couldn’t help but inhale more deeply as I closed my eyes.

    About the Author:

Jo Matthews is an Arizona native, where she lives with her husband and son. A stay-at-home mom since 2007, she only recently discovered her love and passion for the written word. When she’s not writing, she’s usually knee deep in editing—an aspect she thoroughly enjoys.

As an editor she has propelled quite a few authors into the published world, and with her skills, has landed several stories on Amazon’s Top Sellers lists.

Hot Summer Nights by Bec Rose

Annie Murphy had the picture perfect life. A beautiful home, a wonderful son, and a husband who adored her. It was every woman’s dream until her husband of over twenty years came out of the closet, leaving her a forty-five year old divorcee struggling to regain her confidence. Needing a distraction, she agrees to allow her son’s friend, Jamie, to spend the summer at her house while working as an intern. When Jamie, the cute female intern she’d been expecting turns out to be Jaime, the hot male intern with abs to drool over, it kicks Annie’s fantasies into overdrive. When she realizes that her desires are not one sided, it’s more than the temperature that causes some hot summer nights.
    Excerpt:

It seemed like forever before he finally made his way back downstairs, and I heard him rummaging through the fridge for something before he walked into the den carrying some homemade chocolate mousse. I moved to the main sofa, sitting down next to him so we were both within reach of the dessert. “I hope you don’t mind, but I made this before dinner. I have a bit of a sweet tooth.” He grinned at me as he took a bite. I smiled back and dipped my spoon in, groaning at the amazing taste that exploded in my mouth when I took my first bite.

“Oh, god, Jaime, you’re going to make me fat if you cook like this all the time,” I laughed. When I heard no reply, I looked next to me, seeing Jaime staring at my lips with-if I wasn’t completely misinterpreting it-a look of lust in his eyes.“Oh, um, I’m sorry?” He seemed confused.

“I just said that you’re going to make me fat if you keep cooking like this.”.

“You don’t have to worry about that, Annie. You have an amazing figure if you don’t mind me saying.” I was surprised by his comment. It had been a long time since anyone had complimented me like that. “Oh, well, um…thank you Jaime,” I replied, embarrassed.

We finished off the dessert, both of us silently deciding to stay on the couch next to each other by settling back as Jaime changed the channel to watch an old movie. It was nice to sit with someone and not feel the need to fill the air with unnecessary conversation. Jaime was easy to just be with, and I was once again glad it had turned out to be a male houseguest instead of a female.

    Second Chances by NJ Cole

Calla Moretti married her college sweetheart, Bill. Married life was great at first, but as his career had her dropping out of college and moving away from her family and friends, Calla struggled with her role as a wife and homemaker. Stress due to infertility and Bill’s affairs, had the marriage on the brink of failure. Excerpt:

Staring into my eyes, he lowered his head. I could have moved, spoken, coughed…anything, but instead I lifted my chin and allowed him to kiss me.

At first it was chaste, it really was, but when I didn’t pull away, he didn’t either. I felt his tongue poke from between his velvet lips and lick over my lower one. I gasped, and he used that opportunity to find his way into my mouth. As my body began to shake, I groaned. I had to stop this. If I didn’t, I’d end up having sex with him—a total stranger. I knew that because I was ovulating, if I did sleep with him, there was a good chance that I’d become pregnant.

    I’d become pregnant.

I had stiffened up at my epiphany, causing him to pull back. “Oh, shit. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.”
My mind was racing with the possibility of becoming pregnant tonight. I could go home to Bill in the morning and he and I could have sex. He’d think the baby was his, and maybe it would be, I reasoned with myself. He’d never know and our marriage would be fixed.

The elevator opens and he waits for me to enter, and I do. With fast steps, I rush inside and whirl around to confront him. He stalks forward, and this time he doesn’t avoid looking at me, his expression etched with pure determination and some raw, dark emotion I cannot fully name. I don’t get the chance to try.

Before a word is out of my mouth, and I have many intended, the bags he’s holding hit the floor and Chris has pressed me back against the wall. My purse tumbles from my arm and his powerful thighs encase mine; his hips mold my hips. I gasp with the rough tangle of his fingers in my hair and the blaze of his eyes as they capture mine. I am angry with him. I am aroused. And when his mouth claims my mouth, his tongue slicing past my lips with a delicious lick followed by another, demanding my response, I am at his mercy. My fingers curl around his t-shirt and I push away the tiny space between us, molding myself against him. He owns me and, considering how the past thirty minutes have gone, this terrifies me, but I’m all in with Chris. I decided that long before Paris. I am his to command, moaning with the taste of him, sultry and male, on my tongue.

His hand sweeps up my side, fingers flexing over my ribs, palm covering my breast. My nipple tightens in anticipation of the tug that follows and I moan, my need to touch Chris almost unbearable. I reach for his shirt, intending to push beneath, but he doesn’t let me.

Chris’s fingers close around my wrist and I know he is in that dark place, where he doesn’t let me touch him—but I am in a dark place, too, on edge, ripe with my anger and unwilling to be submissive to him. Challenging his silent message of control, I reach for his shirt with my free hand and he shackles my wrist as well and tears his mouth from mine. Our eyes lock, the sound of our heavy breathing filling the air and the motion of the elevator I didn’t even know was moving swaying our bodies. The floor vibrates slightly beneath our feet and I sense, rather than see, the doors behind Chris slide open, but still we stand there, still we stare at each other.

“They don’t get to tell you who I am,” he says. His voice is a rough growl, low and tight. “I do. I tell you and I show you so you get the truth, not their fabrication of it.” A muscle in his jaw flexes. “Understand?”

My anger and fear dissolve instantly. He’s not pulling away from me. He’s angry that Amber and Tristan might taint my view of him when he’s already convinced I’ll hate him before this discovery process is over.
“Do you understand?” he demands when I apparently don’t answer fast enough.

This time I don’t fight the bark of his order, understanding the desperateness beneath its surface. “Yes. Yes. Chris, I—”

His fingers tangle in my hair again, tugging my head back in that deliciously rough way he does. Dark Chris calls to me and I no longer fight answering. “Do not go there without me again.” His voice is gravelly; raw like the emotion I’ve seen in his face and tasted on his lips.

“Me going there wasn’t what you think it was, Chris.”

His eyes flash with disapproval. He is not pleased, or accepting, of what I’ve said, and his mouth closes down on mine, punishing, controlling. His tongue thrusting and tasting, before he repeats his words, his fingers stroking my breasts, teasing my nipple. “Do not go there again without me, Sara.”

“I won’t.” The words come out a hoarse groan as his hand strokes a path up and down my side, and back over my breast. His touch is heavy, the air thick, and I’m certain he isn’t convinced. “I won’t go back without you.”
His fingers curl around my neck and he stares down at me, searching my face with such intensity it feels as if he’s seeing straight to my soul. And I welcome the invasion. I welcome him. Seconds tick by, and I have no idea what he sees or doesn’t see in me, but he drags my mouth to his and kisses me.

The silky hot stroke of his tongue is a shot of adrenaline and desire that spikes through my body and creates a tingling sensation from head to toe. I shudder with pleasure and drink him in, tasting the bittersweet hunger in him, the anger and torment. I burn to touch him beyond where my fingers rest on his chest, to feel hard muscle flex beneath my fingers. But control is his outlet of choice when there is no whip, no pain. And I am no longer angry, no longer rebelling against his demands. No longer fighting his need for an outlet I have long ached for him to know he has with me, in me.

I tremble with the caress of his hand over my waist, traveling to my hip, and curving around my backside to firmly pull me hard against his thick erection. His palm skims upward to the small of my back, and flattens, molding me even closer. I moan into his mouth and he groans in response, his tongue delving deeply, hot with growing demand, with a palpable urgency. And his hands are everywhere, touching me, stroking me, caressing me, driving me wild and, before I know what’s happening, he’s shoving my jeans down my legs. I blink and my boots are gone and I’m half-naked in an elevator with the doors locked open.
I might have protested our location, asked to move to another room, but Chris turns me to the wall and his hands slide, slow and firm, possessively down my waist and over my hips. Feeling his gaze rake over my body, I am wet and weak in the knees.

He cups my cheeks from behind and steps forward, pressing his lips to my ear. “Tonight, I want to spank you, but I won’t. Not when it would be punishment. I won’t ever do that to you. But don’t think that means I won’t want to.”

I understand Chris. I don’t know how or why but, deep in our souls, we connect, and I know what he is doing. He’s showing me a hard exterior but all I see is vulnerability, a need that tonight has sparked, to show me a darker, more dangerous side of himself, and have me not run for cover. “You can’t scare me away, Chris. So throw all the words you want at me. I’m still here. I’m still not going anywhere. And in case you forgot, I liked it when you spanked me.”

His hand finds my stomach and then presses deeper between my legs, until his fingers tease my clit. “Maybe this time I’ll tie you up and flog you.”

“Do it.” His fingers stroke into the silky wet V of my body, and I am panting, barely able to speak, but I swallow and somehow finish my challenge. “The more you push me, the more I push back, Chris.”

He nips my earlobe and I can feel him unzipping his pants. “So you say,” he murmurs.

“So I know.” Throwing caution to the wind, I press onward, trying to unleash the pent-up energy in him he bottles until it later explodes. “Only one of us is running. Only one of us is afraid of what I have yet to discover, Chris.”

The air crackles and his hand goes to my waist, fingers flexing into my flesh, and I revel in the certainty I’ve succeeded in taking him to the edge. “You think I’m running?” he demands.

“No. I think you’re trying to make me run so you can blame me if we fail.”

His cock presses between my legs. “Does that feel like I want you to run?” He enters me, driving hard inside me without any prelude. “Does that?” And then he is thrusting, reaching around me to meld his hand to my breast, holding onto it, and me. He thrusts again, burying himself, with a fieriness that outreaches pure physical need. Oh yes, I have made him angry and I am glad. I want this side of him, I want all of him. And damn it, he just keeps trying to deny me. He keeps trying to hold back and, yes, he keeps trying to make me run.

I press my hand to his hand where it’s melded to my breast, teasing me, holding him there, holding on and not planning to ever let go. Pleasure splinters through me with each thrust of his cock, each moment he’s buried deep inside me. Sensation after sensation begins in my sex and rushes through nerve endings. I am lost in how he feels, how I feel, and I arch into him, my muscles clench around him, and then I cannot breathe. My orgasm takes me by surprise, enveloping me, consuming me. I rise to the top of it far too quickly and come down far too hard and fast, but just in time to feel Chris shudder, his body tensing with his release. He stills, burying his face in my neck, and his body slowly relaxes. For several moments he holds me there, and I’m not sure either of us breathes, let alone speaks or moves. I am not sure what to say or what to do next.Abruptly, he pulls out of me, and I don’t know why, but an unusual sense of complete, utter emptiness washes over me. The “why” is answered when I start to turn to find him already headed out of the elevator. I stare after him, knots balling in my stomach. Maybe I pushed the wrong buttons. Maybe I pushed him to far or too hard. Maybe I made a mistake.

USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR JULIE MILLER’S THE PRECINCT: TASK FORCE SERIES HEATS UP WHEN A PLAIN JANE AND AN EXPERIENCED COP POSE AS AN ENGAGED COUPLE.

Something about Hope Lockhart fascinated Officer Pike Taylor. The cop and his canine companion had been patrolling the neighborhood around Hope’s bridal shop for months, trying to capture the criminal who targeted her. Was it the way she hid her voluptuous beauty beneath a plain Jane exterior?

Hope bore the scars of a troubling past. And despite a profession steeped in romance, she’d never known the love of a man. But when Pike is assigned to protect her by posing as her live-in fiancé, his tenderness may give Hope the courage to open her heart for the very first time.

But she is afraid of him or his canine partner.  As they are forced together in close quarters will the fear Hope has of him or his dog be overcome enough that she can let them both protect her?

“Really?” Hope squinted and averted her eyes from the bright headlights that filled up her rearview mirror. “You’re following a little close, buddy.”

She gripped the steering wheel more tightly and pressed on the gas to put some distance between them. She wasn’t a nervous driver at all. But normally she wasn’t out this late, and she didn’t take the shortcut off the interstate through the heart of the city. But cleanup after the Barrister-Stelling wedding had run long past the end of the dinner and dancing. And though she wasn’t the one actually bussing the tables, there were family pictures and table decorations she’d promised to hold on to until after the honeymoon. Then the gifts had to be delivered to their parents’ hotel rooms. Other than the hotel staff, she’d been the last person to leave the reception.

So what if her panty hose had long since cut off the circulation to her toes? Or if she’d have to unload every last box in the trunk and backseat of her car herself because she’d sent her assistant home. Hope had earned a tidy fortune with this event. Earned every last penny playing fashion consultant, wedding planner and family counselor. The sooner she got home, the sooner she could celebrate with a glass of wine and a long, hot bubble bath. Or maybe she’d skip them both and just fall straight into bed and sleep until Monday. “What the heck?”

The same lights rushed up behind her a second time, nearly blinding her. “Jackass.”

Hope blamed the unlady-like condemnation on the length of the day and the unwanted calls piling up on her cell phone that bothered her more than she cared to admit. She must have a stamp on her forehead that said “Pick on me” today. Just because she tended to be shy and soft-spoken didn’t mean she lacked backbone or a brain or a temper. When the driver flashed his lights through her rear window, she muttered another word in the Ozark accent that crept into her voice whenever she got a little too angry or afraid. She double-checked her speed. She wasn’t poking along, by any means. Still, if the guy was in that much of a hurry…

Pulling closer to the parking lane so he could pass, Hope adjusted her charcoal-framed glasses to try to catch a look at the driver and license plate on the beat-up white van. But it veered so close as it sped past that it nearly clipped the side mirror on her car. “Hey!”

The van shot back into the lane in front of her, forcing Hope to stomp on the brake and skid to a stop. Glass rattled and boxes shifted behind her as several brief images printed like snapshots in her brain. A shadowy figure dressed in dark clothes sat behind the steering wheel. He wore a black knit cap pulled low over his forehead and a white scarf across his nose and mouth, hiding all but his eyes. In those brief milliseconds when he’d looked down into her car, she was certain their gazes had met, although he flew on by before the details completely registered. A shiny silver bumper that seemed at odds with the rusting wheel wells and dinged-up back doors was the last image she saw before it disappeared into the night.

“Where’s a cop when you need one?” She sighed, fighting a niggling sense of unease that her sleep-deprived brain was keeping her from recognizing something important.

“Need some help, sugar?” A trio of young men, dressed in hoods and jeans and more jewelry than she owned, knocked on her passenger-side window.

Startled by their approach and frightened by their leering smiles, Hope stepped on the accelerator and did a little speeding herself—leaving a trail of rubber, laughter and catcalls in her wake.

She drove three more blocks before she eased up on the gas. Hope inhaled a deep breath and ordered herself to get a grip. It was probably just the neighborhood she was driving through that had made her suspicious of the van and driver. Besides the three young men, she’d passed a homeless man pushing his cart along the sidewalk, and at least one scantily clad woman who’d been leaning into a parked car—either picking up a client, making a drug buy or both.

If Hope wasn’t so darned nearsighted, maybe she could have read the van’s license plate, even on the dimly lit street. If she wasn’t so distracted by those unwanted phone calls, she could have gotten a useful description of the driver. If she wasn’t so worn-out, maybe she would have taken the long way home and bypassed this run-down neighborhood where she had no business driving alone, anyway.

Hope breathed a sigh of relief as she finally left the less savory section of the city behind her and drove past the familiar landmarks of renovated art deco buildings, solid midcentury brownstones and converted warehouses that now housed trendy new businesses and condo apartments like her own. Her company improved, too. Instead of the prostitute and gangbangers, and rude drivers crowding her on the street, she drove past a busy bar with a neon green shamrock sign and a group of friends standing outside the front door, sharing a laugh and a smoke.

She stopped at the next light and waited for a young twentysomething couple to cross in front of her. They were holding hands, out on a Saturday night date to a restaurant or coffeehouse in the next block. Or perhaps they were meeting a group of friends to go dancing at one of the newly opened clubs in the trendy Kansas City neighborhood where Hope lived over her own shop.

A little pang of longing squeezed at Hope’s restless heart. Even if she had a date, or a whirlwind social life that included dancing and barhopping, she was too tired to do more than drive herself home tonight. She couldn’t wait to kick off her heels, slide into that bath and curl up with a good book.

Still, it would be nice if just once she had something more to look forward to than a hard day of work and a quiet night at home. She wanted something more—something a little more exciting, something a little less lonely.

Almost as soon as she thought the wish, she regretted it.

She knew she was lucky to have built a successful business. Lucky to have a solid roof over her head and plenty to eat every day. She was lucky to have a few friends and a younger brother she was so proud of serving in the Marines. Hope’s gaze dropped to her right hand where it rested on the steering wheel. A familiar web of pale scar tissue peeked above the cuff of her tan trench coat. She touched her fingers to the collar of her silk blouse, knowing there was more scarring underneath. All along her arm, her foot, her thigh—there were scars there, too.

She was lucky to be alive.

Hope was grateful to be where she was now, considering where she’d started. She was pushing her luck to dream of something more—like holding hands or being the recipient of a look like the one Jeff Stelling had given his bride, Deanna, today.

“Damn lucky,” she whispered out loud as the light changed. And she meant it. As long as other people kept falling in love, she’d have a job—and the security she’d been denied growing up. What would she do with a man, anyway? Embarrass herself? Shy, plump and partially disfigured—what man wouldn’t want to get all over that?

With a healthy dose of mental sarcasm to sharpen her dreamy focus, Hope turned onto her street. The familiar brick facade and storefront windows she’d decorated herself welcomed her as she slowed to pull into the parking lot beside Fairy Tale Bridal.

Hope parked her car in the reserved space next to the side entrance and climbed out, keys and pepper spray in hand. As stylish and reborn as this neighborhood might be, it, unfortunately, had become the hunting ground of a serial rapist that the press had dubbed the Rose Red Rapist. She had the unwanted distinction of being responsible for the horrid nickname because one of his first victims had been abducted right outside her shop. So much for fairy tales. Several more women, including a friend who’d worked just across the street at the Robin’s Nest Floral shop, had been blitz attacked, driven to another location, sexually assaulted and then dumped back here on this very block as if they were so much trash.

A client of hers, Bailey Austin, had been that first victim. Hope still felt guilty about the night more than a year ago when Bailey—then an engaged woman having a tiff with her fiance at the shop—had stormed out of Fairy Tale Bridal and been assaulted. Although the younger woman had assured Hope that she in no way held her responsible for the attack, Hope was still looking for a way to make restitution.

Hope unlocked the vestibule and picked up the mail off the floor that had come through the slot. Then she unlocked the inner door to her shop and set the bills and letters along with her purse inside before returning to her car to unload the boxes from the wedding reception. She tilted her gaze to make sure the security lights and camera monitoring the entrance were working before opening her trunk and grabbing the first box of family mementos from her car.

With each trip to and from the shop, she made a point of scanning her surroundings and locking her car. KCPD had formed a task force to track down and arrest the elusive rapist, and they had stepped up patrols in this particular neighborhood. The Rose Red Rapist had received plenty of press on television and in the local papers, although facts about the attacks often got less coverage than the reporters’ negative opinions on the police department’s handling of the case. But every woman in town knew the dangers lurking in the darkness. Every woman who lived here knew the details of the crimes—what to look for and what to avoid.

She was one woman, alone in the city. And even though she was no slim, head-turning beauty, she wasn’t so naive to think she couldn’t become a victim, too. She fit the profile of the professional women the rapist targeted. She was successful and confident—when it came to her business, at any rate. Hope was smart enough to be on guard, especially at this time of night. But she couldn’t very well surrender to the terror she faced as a single woman in this neighborhood. Her entire life’s savings was tied up in this shop. Anything she could call her own was in that apartment upstairs.

Besides, she was experienced enough in life to know that danger could find a person anywhere—in the heart of the city, or on a dusty back road in the middle of nowhere. This building was her home and her livelihood, and no man—no threat—was going to frighten her into giving up everything she’d worked so hard for. She just had to be aware. She had to pay attention to the alerts and details the police had shared with the public.

    Details.

    Driven to another location…

Hope shifted the box of photos to one arm and closed the trunk as a shiver of awareness raised goose bumps across her skin. That was what she should have remembered about the white van that had cruised past her. She’d read a witness account in the paper with vague details about coming to inside a white van before being dumped in the alley across the street after her assault.

White van? A driver hiding his face on a cool autumn night?

There had to be hundreds of white vans in the city. Just because one had crept up on her bumper …twice….

And the man in black and white behind the wheel? Surely he wasn’t… Hope’s stomach knotted with fear. Surely she hadn’t gotten a glimpse of the Rose Red Rapist himself.

    En route to another abduction.

Returning from the scene of an assault.

“No. Surely not.” No one had seen the serial rapist. One reason he’d never been arrested was that no victim had been able to identify him—no surviving victim. She hugged the box to her chest and tried to talk herself off the ledge of fearful possibility she was climbing on to. “He was just some jackass who was in a hurry.”

A blur of white in Hope’s peripheral vision drew her attention out to the street.

A white van moved with the late-night traffic past the entrance to the parking lot. The white van? Was the Rose Red Rapist on the prowl for his next victim?

Hope’s breathing locked up the way it had at the church. She was squarely and completely trapped on that ledge. “That can’t be him.”

Cruising through herneighborhood? Had the driver followed her home? Was he hunting her?

Hope barely managed to save the box and its fragile contents from crashing to the asphalt. “You don’t even know if it’s him,” she warned herself on a whisper. “It’s just a white van. It’s just some guy in a van. It’s probably not even the same one.”

Refusing to let her imagination turn her observation into a panic, she carefully set the box down on the trunk and took a couple of steps toward the street. Rusting wheel wells. Shiny silver bumper.

She glanced up into the cab. Dark stocking cap and… not a scarf.

    A surgical mask.

    Shadowed eyes met hers.

    “Oh, my God.”

Hope slipped her hand into her coat pocket to pull out her phone as the van suddenly picked up speed and headed toward the next intersection. She hurried out to the sidewalk to see which direction the vehicle would turn and punched in 911. The driver might not be the Rose Red Rapist, but it was definitely the same van that had nearly crowded her off the road tonight.

“Nine-eleven Dispatch,” a succinct female voice answered. “What is the nature of your emergency?”

“I don’t know if this is exactly an emergency, but I’m not sure who to report this to.” Hope turned up the collar of her trench coat and huddled against the suddenly brisk chill in the autumn air. “I just saw a white van that matches the description the police gave in the paper about the vehicle the Rose Red Rapist drives. The man inside had his face covered.”

    “Are you in danger, ma’am?”

“I…” There were a few people hanging out down at the corner where the van was waiting for the light to change. A group of young women wandered out of the dance club. Was the driver watching them? Choosing one for his next victim? “I’m not. But someone else may be.” Hope glanced around at the cars parked on the street, at the closed shops, at the deserted sidewalks here in the middle of the block. She was safe, wasn’t she? The van turned right, slowly circling past the group of women waiting at the crosswalk. “I think you should send the police.”

“Yes, ma’am. Where are you now?”

Hope relayed her location, refusing to take her eyes off the van until it disappeared from sight. A man wearing a surgical mask wasn’t necessarily a threat. Maybe it was part of his work—such as an exterminator, or someone who worked with food might wear. Or maybe he was one of those people who was phobic about catching germs. Still…it just didn’t feel right.

“We already have an officer in the area, ma’am,” the dispatcher assured her. “I’ll send him to your shop right now.”

Good idea. Go back inside her shop. Lock the doors. “Thank you.”

Hope disconnected the call, waiting a few seconds longer until the young women changed their minds and went back into the club for more dancing. The breeze whipped loose a long tendril of hair that had been pinned up in a French roll all day. The long curl hooked inside the temple of her glasses and caught in her lashes, forcing her to squint until she pulled it free and tucked it back behind her ear. Good. The women were all safely inside. She’d be smart to do the same until the police arrived to take her statement.

“Staring into space like you always did.”

Hope jumped inside her pumps and whirled around to see the gray-haired man standing behind her.

“I’ve been waitin’ for you, girl.”

    My Review:

    4.0 Star Review – FEARLESS

    I recommend this book.

I enjoyed this book by Tawny.  This book includes Erotic fun, passion, laughs, heartache, betrayal and sweet revenge in this story.

If you found out your fantasy worthy crush was leaving the company would you try and get a chance to seduce him?
Even if it meant going out of your comfort zone in order to do it?  I think most of us would.

Gia Reynard has a job at Tri-Solutions which she likes but there is a hot guy also working there Luke Monroe, the company golden boy, that she likes but the company has a fraternization policy that prohibits relationships.  So one night when she and her three closest friends are having a gab fest she blurts out she would love to get with Luke before he leaves the company.  A plan of action is called for and the girls devise the plan.

Gia will do a quick makeover so no one will recognize her and she will seduce Luke while he is in Las Vegas.  All goes according to plan Gia seduces Luke as “Vanna” and she gets her man.  They are both enjoying the benefits of the seduction until they both start having real feelings for each other.  Gia flees before Luke awakens.  Luke is hurting after she bailed as he thought they had something special.

When Gia returns to work she is promoted and is now working under Luke.  Terrified that Luke will recognize her she telecommutes and finally just backs out of the project.  Luke figures out “Vanna” is really Gia and is furious until overhearing gossip about someone who was sleeping with someone else and was let go.

Gia is escorted to Luke’s office when she realizes he knows about “Vanna” and he decides a little sweet revenge is in order.   Now if they could just make this work.

    One of my favorite parts:

“He’s hot enough to melt chocolate,” Gia said, imagining just that, then wishing she could lick it off his naked body afterwards. “He’s gorgeous, has a body to die for, and he’s got that sophisticated sexy vibe going. Like he takes his sex cues from books and indie films instead of watching porn with the guys from the gym.”

    About Tawny:

    I love romance.

Happily ever after, hot love scenes… all the good things in life.

For a long time, I was content to explore this enticing world through books. Then, wow – I found out it can happen in real life. I met my husband, who showed me that all those wonderful, magical feelings described in the books are real. Hey, what d’ya know, fiction really IS based in reality.

Once that particular dream came true, it was like Pandora’s Box opened… if I could have that dream, why not the one I’d hidden away in that quiet corner of my mind… the one about putting those stories dancing around in my head onto paper (or computer screen) and writing my own romances? It took awhile. Workshops and classes, voraciously devouring every how-to book I could buy, studying the market and finding my niche, to say nothing of my voice. Throw in those little distractions like life, children and such… but the dream started taking life.Once I joined RWA I found another form of magic. Camaraderie, support and friendships that have touched my heart. The dream is blooming. Over the years, I’ve served as President, Secretary and VP of Administration in various RWA chapters, as well as Publicity Chair, Mentorship Chair, Critique Chair, Judged and coordinated various contests and moderated a few other programs. All of this gives strength to that dream, and keeps it grounded. 2012 will see my thirteenth, fourteenth, fifteenth and sixteenth Harlequin Blaze novels in the shelves, as well as three indie Karma Cafe novellas.

I do have other dreams that I’m happily tending: my own real-life hero husband and our two children. Our Northern California home, an ode to ideas and obsessive redecorating/remodeling. Good thing my hero is handy with a saw. Gardening, scrapbooking, crafting and an incredibly supportive family round things out. Along with homeschooling our children and writing, I work from home with my Intuitive Consulting business. I would love to hear from you.

    Read an Excerpt

They’d kicked off the evening with Caryn telling them all about her latest sexy hookup, in very graphic detail.

Gia couldn’t remember the last time she’d had graphic details worth sharing.  Not like Caryn’s, which included a Thai restaurant after hours, coconut martinis and silk scarves.  But that was Caryn.  She saw something she wanted and she made it happen.  Sometimes it happened with curry.

Or there were the impossible-to-compete with details of Jessa’s Caribbean cruise last year.  On the first day, she’d met her dream guy, spent the next five days being romanced and five nights being sexually worshiped.  Then, to top it off, she’d brought the guy home and married him.

And Sara, well, Sara had almost too many details.  Dramatic details, sure.  But they were still details.  This month she couldn’t decide if she was in love with a guy she’d met at a club last month or her ex-girlfriend who kept calling.  Sara bounced from sexual adventure to heartache to despair and right back in lust again.

And then there was Gia.  It wasn’t like she was the sad and lonely friend.  She’d had boyfriends.  She’d enjoyed plenty of good sex and knew her way around an orgasm.  But none of her adventures included scarves, cruises or kink.

         Not like her friends.

Jessa was the princess.  Pretty, pampered and sweet, she’d always inspired guys to fall at her feet.

Caryn, on the other hand, was a ball breaker.  She had a plan and worked it.  She had guys at her feet, too, but usually on a leash.

Sara flew through life, and sex, like it was an all-night buffet and she was starving.   She never stayed still long enough for guys to even find her feet.

And then there was Gia.  Good ole average Gia. Dependable, nice, cute.

         Not phenomenal.  Not horrible.

         Just average.

         Average sucked.

“Gia?  What’re you craving?” Jessa asked from where she lounged on the couch, her head back on the pillow to better enjoy the moisturizing benefits of her facial mask.

Slicking another coat of midnight crimson polish over her nails, Gia absently finished her thought aloud,  “A wild sexual adventure that includes chocolate, feathers and three dozen orgasms?”

The room went silent.  Even the iPod, playing Rihanna in the background, seemed to quiet.

Oh shit.  Had she said that aloud?

Gia looked up to find three sets of eyes locked on her in varying states of shock and amusement.  She winced, then carefully pushed her martini glass away..

5 Star Review – Revealing Us

Note: If you have NOT read BEING ME, do not read this novella until after you have read BEING ME.

This review and book contains spoilers for Being Me.

I could not put this book down.  I really love Chris and Sara.  At the end I thought wow things are setting down then I turned the page to The Epilogue and Lisa once again left us hanging…

This book was written as present tense and in first person POV.   Makes it easier to figure out what is happening in the past (with Rebecca’s journal entries) and the present.

When we left off before Sara McMillian needed to decide if she is going to Paris with Chris Merit to see if they are going to try to rebuild and grow their relationship.  Everyone is dealing with the loss of Rebecca in their own way.

As this book opens Sara is struggling with if she should go or not.  She can’t find Chris and he will not answer her calls.  She shows up for the plane and he is there to greet her.  Something happens to Sara in the Parris airport after they land.  She also gets calls from the detective running the case about Rebecca that she was accused of being involved in Rebecca’s death.  So Sara has some tough times right away in Paris.

As she meets Chris’s friends in Paris though she feeling even worst as they are not very nice to her.  They mostly hate her on sight.  They try and pull her into situations that will hurt her relationship with Chris.

Mark shows up very briefly in this book.

But you get to see how Chris and Sara’s relationship is growing and you learn more about Chris and his secrets.  He is a very complex guy and blames himself for something that he believes is his fault.

Sara continues to search for her friend Ella Johnson throughout the book with a little progress.

I cannot wait see what happens.  Hurry Lisa we are all waiting for the next book….

    One of my favorite parts:

I make a beeline for a chair in front of one of the tables, when a man appears in the open doorway, and it’s all I can do to keep walking. Dressed in black leather pants and a T-shirt, he is tall, with wavy raven hair to his chin, and perfect, masculine facial features. But it’s not his looks that have me ready to stumble over my own feet. It’s the way he oozes the kind of power Mark does and leaves me with two certainties. He is Tristan and he is a Master.

He leans against the wall directly across from the table I’ve stopped at, crossing his heavily tattooed arms in front of his broad chest. I stare at them, expecting some fizzle of female awareness like I get from Chris’s, and find none. Huh. I’m still not a tattoo girl. I’m a Chris girl. The idea makes me smile inside. Yes. I am definitely a Chris girl.

    Excerpt

I am not sure what to say or what to do next.

Abruptly, he pulls out of me, and I don’t know why, but an unusual sense of complete, utter emptiness washes over me. The “why” is answered when I start to turn to find him already headed out of the elevator. I stare after him, knots balling in my stomach. Maybe I pushed the wrong buttons. Maybe I pushed him to far or too hard. Maybe I made a mistake.

    Unexpected Journey by Jo Matthews

Sarah thought she met her soul mate in Mitch Chandler.

    My Review:

4.0 Star Review – The Coltons of Wyoming # 3 series

    I recommend this book.

I enjoyed this book by Loreth.  This book includes drama, passion, gunfire, betrayal and romance throughout the entire story.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books first.

The Colton Ransom by Marie Ferrarella

Colton by Blood by Melissa Cutler

Jagger McKnight is a foreign correspondent who is trying to solve the 30 year old crime of the missing Cole Colton baby.  After getting attacked on the way to the Colton Ranch everyone believes that he is Cole as he has items that only Cole should have.  Since he is injured and does not remember who he is he goes along with the belief that he is Cole.

Mia Sanders found him and is nursing him back to health.  She knows that he has secrets and he is too much like her ex for her to get involved but boy does she want to get involved.

After they are both almost killed they must figure out who is after them as the police are not really helping with the crimes around or on the ranch.  They need to figure out who is trying to kill off Jagger to make it seem like Cole died.

As they investigate the crimes they are drawn together even more until a secret has the potential to rip them apart. You can feel the chemistry between the two throughout the book.

Must say I really like Jagger and fell for him a little myself.

To find out the answers to the below pick up the book:

Who is after Jagger and who set him up?

What is the secret Jagger is keeping from Mia?
Why are the police not solving any of the crimes at the ranch?

Look forward to the next books in this series listed below.

The Colton Heir by Colleen Thompson – Due out in November

    About Loreth:

Loreth Anne White was born and raised in southern Africa, but now lives in Whistler, a ski resort in the moody British Columbian Coast Mountain range. It’s a place of vast, wild and often dangerous mountains, larger-than-life characters, epic adventure, and romance — the perfect place to escape reality.

It’s no wonder it was here she was inspired to abandon a 16-year career as a reporter, features writer, and editor (under the name Loreth Beswetherick) to escape into a world of romantic fiction filled with dangerous men and adventurous women.

When she’s not writing you will find her long-distance running, biking or skiing on the trails with her Black Dog, and generally trying to avoid the bears – albeit not very successfully. She calls this work, because it’s when the best ideas come.

Loreth has won the Romantic Times Reviewer’s choice award, is a double Romantic Times Reviewers’ choice award finalist, a double Rita finalist, a double Daphne Du Maurier finalist, and multiple CataRomance Reviewers’ choice winner.

Clouds of dust swirled down Dead River’s main street as the small Wyoming town hunkered against the early fall winds sweeping across this vast, drought-ravaged region of cattle-ranch country. A wet front had helped quell the wildfires and brought a dusting of snow to the distant Lara-mie peaks. But rain had done little to quench the parched ranchlands, and the wind easily cast exposed topsoil adrift.

Jagger McKnight blinked against the blowing grit as he pushed open the door of the Dead River Diner. He was greeted by a blast of warm air and the smell of fried food–yet another greasy spoon, like so many he’d frequented over the past twelve months as he’d drifted aimlessly across the United States. But it was almost 6:00 p.m.–he was cold and famished. He also had questions. A local diner was as good a place as any to start.

Choosing the empty booth closest to the door, Jagger hefted his kit bag onto the red vinyl seat and scooted it toward the grime-streaked window. He removed his jacket, then his cowboy hat. But as his fingers brushed against the ragged scar under his hairline, Jagger stilled, instantly disoriented. A soft panic began to lick through his stomach.

    No. Not now…

He concentrated on breathing in slowly and folded his tall frame into the booth beside his gear. Pressing both hands down hard on the table, Jagger focused on the view of the parking lot outside the dirty window. He mentally cataloged what he saw–the gusts of sand piling into soft yellow drifts against a wall. The cracked wall, peeling plaster. Like the bunker.

Tongues of panic licked again, a little deeper, faster. And for a white-hot instant he could no longer see the parking lot. He was back. Trapped. Golangal Valley. A desert windstorm, the sound of blowing Afghan sand like screaming banshees as it funneled through rocks. They were surrounded by heavily armed insurgents in the hills. An invisible enemy. Dark was coming.

A pot banged suddenly in the diner kitchen and Jagger jumped, his pulse spiking as his brain scrambled to translate the noise into mortar fire, explosions.

    Enough! You can stop this…

He turned his concentration back to the present, to the two Harleys parked out front of the diner. Across the parking lot, two eighteen-wheeler semis were angled for an easy exit. On the opposite side of the street, a young woman pushed a covered stroller as she bent into the wind, a scarf protecting her face. Civilian. Semis. Harleys.

No grenades hidden in scarves, or the folds of a burka or clutched in the small brown hands of a liquid-eyed child. No tanks. No guerillas around the side of the wall. If Jagger wanted, he could simply stand up, step out the diner door, hit the road. He was free. Free to go.

A tumbleweed bounced past the semis, driven by the vagaries of wind, en route to nowhere in particular. Just like he’d been–drifting. Seeking to numb his nightmares with too many beers, too many late nights, too many one-night stands with women whose names he couldn’t even begin to remember. A shrink would have a field day with him, but Jagger had walked away from all that medical crap. He had to do this himself.

And now, at least, he had a small hook on which to hang a future, however tenuous.

It had come to him Tuesday night, almost nine weeks ago–something to grab on to, something he could use to claw back a semblance of his life, and he’d grabbed it like a lifeline.

Maybe the timing had just been right. Maybe it was destiny. Maybe blind folly or sheer desperation. Hell knew. But on that Tuesday night, Jagger had been nursing a warm beer in a dive bar on…
