My Review:

4.0 Star Review – FEARLESS

I recommend this book.

I enjoyed this book by Tawny.  This book includes Erotic fun, passion, laughs, heartache, betrayal and sweet revenge in this story.

If you found out your fantasy worthy crush was leaving the company would you try and get a chance to seduce him?
Even if it meant going out of your comfort zone in order to do it?  I think most of us would.

Gia Reynard has a job at Tri-Solutions which she likes but there is a hot guy also working there Luke Monroe, the company golden boy, that she likes but the company has a fraternization policy that prohibits relationships.  So one night when she and her three closest friends are having a gab fest she blurts out she would love to get with Luke before he leaves the company.  A plan of action is called for and the girls devise the plan.

Gia will do a quick makeover so no one will recognize her and she will seduce Luke while he is in Las Vegas.  All goes according to plan Gia seduces Luke as “Vanna” and she gets her man.  They are both enjoying the benefits of the seduction until they both start having real feelings for each other.  Gia flees before Luke awakens.  Luke is hurting after she bailed as he thought they had something special.

When Gia returns to work she is promoted and is now working under Luke.  Terrified that Luke will recognize her she telecommutes and finally just backs out of the project.  Luke figures out “Vanna” is really Gia and is furious until overhearing gossip about someone who was sleeping with someone else and was let go.

Gia is escorted to Luke’s office when she realizes he knows about “Vanna” and he decides a little sweet revenge is in order.   Now if they could just make this work.

One of my favorite parts:

“He’s hot enough to melt chocolate,” Gia said, imagining just that, then wishing she could lick it off his naked body afterwards. “He’s gorgeous, has a body to die for, and he’s got that sophisticated sexy vibe going. Like he takes his sex cues from books and indie films instead of watching porn with the guys from the gym.”

About Tawny:

I love romance.

Happily ever after, hot love scenes… all the good things in life.

For a long time, I was content to explore this enticing world through books. Then, wow – I found out it can happen in real life. I met my husband, who showed me that all those wonderful, magical feelings described in the books are real. Hey, what d’ya know, fiction really IS based in reality.

Once that particular dream came true, it was like Pandora’s Box opened… if I could have that dream, why not the one I’d hidden away in that quiet corner of my mind… the one about putting those stories dancing around in my head onto paper (or computer screen) and writing my own romances? It took awhile. Workshops and classes, voraciously devouring every how-to book I could buy, studying the market and finding my niche, to say nothing of my voice. Throw in those little distractions like life, children and such… but the dream started taking life.Once I joined RWA I found another form of magic. Camaraderie, support and friendships that have touched my heart. The dream is blooming. Over the years, I’ve served as President, Secretary and VP of Administration in various RWA chapters, as well as Publicity Chair, Mentorship Chair, Critique Chair, Judged and coordinated various contests and moderated a few other programs. All of this gives strength to that dream, and keeps it grounded. 2012 will see my thirteenth, fourteenth, fifteenth and sixteenth Harlequin Blaze novels in the shelves, as well as three indie Karma Cafe novellas.

I do have other dreams that I’m happily tending: my own real-life hero husband and our two children. Our Northern California home, an ode to ideas and obsessive redecorating/remodeling. Good thing my hero is handy with a saw. Gardening, scrapbooking, crafting and an incredibly supportive family round things out. Along with homeschooling our children and writing, I work from home with my Intuitive Consulting business. I would love to hear from you.

They’d kicked off the evening with Caryn telling them all about her latest sexy hookup, in very graphic detail.

Gia couldn’t remember the last time she’d had graphic details worth sharing.  Not like Caryn’s, which included a Thai restaurant after hours, coconut martinis and silk scarves.  But that was Caryn.  She saw something she wanted and she made it happen.  Sometimes it happened with curry.

Or there were the impossible-to-compete with details of Jessa’s Caribbean cruise last year.  On the first day, she’d met her dream guy, spent the next five days being romanced and five nights being sexually worshiped.  Then, to top it off, she’d brought the guy home and married him.

And Sara, well, Sara had almost too many details.  Dramatic details, sure.  But they were still details.  This month she couldn’t decide if she was in love with a guy she’d met at a club last month or her ex-girlfriend who kept calling.  Sara bounced from sexual adventure to heartache to despair and right back in lust again.

And then there was Gia.  It wasn’t like she was the sad and lonely friend.  She’d had boyfriends.  She’d enjoyed plenty of good sex and knew her way around an orgasm.  But none of her adventures included scarves, cruises or kink.

     Not like her friends.

Jessa was the princess.  Pretty, pampered and sweet, she’d always inspired guys to fall at her feet.

Caryn, on the other hand, was a ball breaker.  She had a plan and worked it.  She had guys at her feet, too, but usually on a leash.

Sara flew through life, and sex, like it was an all-night buffet and she was starving.   She never stayed still long enough for guys to even find her feet.

And then there was Gia.  Good ole average Gia. Dependable, nice, cute.

     Not phenomenal.  Not horrible.

     Just average.

     Average sucked.

“Gia?  What’re you craving?” Jessa asked from where she lounged on the couch, her head back on the pillow to better enjoy the moisturizing benefits of her facial mask.

Slicking another coat of midnight crimson polish over her nails, Gia absently finished her thought aloud,  “A wild sexual adventure that includes chocolate, feathers and three dozen orgasms?”

The room went silent.  Even the iPod, playing Rihanna in the background, seemed to quiet.

Oh shit.  Had she said that aloud?

Gia looked up to find three sets of eyes locked on her in varying states of shock and amusement.  She winced, then carefully pushed her martini glass away..

5 Star Review – Revealing Us

Note: If you have NOT read BEING ME, do not read this novella until after you have read BEING ME.

This review and book contains spoilers for Being Me.

I could not put this book down.  I really love Chris and Sara.  At the end I thought wow things are setting down then I turned the page to The Epilogue and Lisa once again left us hanging…

This book was written as present tense and in first person POV.   Makes it easier to figure out what is happening in the past (with Rebecca’s journal entries) and the present.

When we left off before Sara McMillian needed to decide if she is going to Paris with Chris Merit to see if they are going to try to rebuild and grow their relationship.  Everyone is dealing with the loss of Rebecca in their own way.

As this book opens Sara is struggling with if she should go or not.  She can’t find Chris and he will not answer her calls.  She shows up for the plane and he is there to greet her.  Something happens to Sara in the Parris airport after they land.  She also gets calls from the detective running the case about Rebecca that she was accused of being involved in Rebecca’s death.  So Sara has some tough times right away in Paris.

As she meets Chris’s friends in Paris though she feeling even worst as they are not very nice to her.  They mostly hate her on sight.  They try and pull her into situations that will hurt her relationship with Chris.

Mark shows up very briefly in this book.

But you get to see how Chris and Sara’s relationship is growing and you learn more about Chris and his secrets.  He is a very complex guy and blames himself for something that he believes is his fault.

Sara continues to search for her friend Ella Johnson throughout the book with a little progress.

I cannot wait see what happens.  Hurry Lisa we are all waiting for the next book….

One of my favorite parts:

I make a beeline for a chair in front of one of the tables, when a man appears in the open doorway, and it’s all I can do to keep walking. Dressed in black leather pants and a T-shirt, he is tall, with wavy raven hair to his chin, and perfect, masculine facial features. But it’s not his looks that have me ready to stumble over my own feet. It’s the way he oozes the kind of power Mark does and leaves me with two certainties. He is Tristan and he is a Master.

He leans against the wall directly across from the table I’ve stopped at, crossing his heavily tattooed arms in front of his broad chest. I stare at them, expecting some fizzle of female awareness like I get from Chris’s, and find none. Huh. I’m still not a tattoo girl. I’m a Chris girl. The idea makes me smile inside. Yes. I am definitely a Chris girl.

The elevator opens and he waits for me to enter, and I do. With fast steps, I rush inside and whirl around to confront him. He stalks forward, and this time he doesn’t avoid looking at me, his expression etched with pure determination and some raw, dark emotion I cannot fully name. I don’t get the chance to try.

Before a word is out of my mouth, and I have many intended, the bags he’s holding hit the floor and Chris has pressed me back against the wall. My purse tumbles from my arm and his powerful thighs encase mine; his hips mold my hips. I gasp with the rough tangle of his fingers in my hair and the blaze of his eyes as they capture mine. I am angry with him. I am aroused. And when his mouth claims my mouth, his tongue slicing past my lips with a delicious lick followed by another, demanding my response, I am at his mercy. My fingers curl around his t-shirt and I push away the tiny space between us, molding myself against him. He owns me and, considering how the past thirty minutes have gone, this terrifies me, but I’m all in with Chris. I decided that long before Paris. I am his to command, moaning with the taste of him, sultry and male, on my tongue.

His hand sweeps up my side, fingers flexing over my ribs, palm covering my breast. My nipple tightens in anticipation of the tug that follows and I moan, my need to touch Chris almost unbearable. I reach for his shirt, intending to push beneath, but he doesn’t let me.

Chris’s fingers close around my wrist and I know he is in that dark place, where he doesn’t let me touch him—but I am in a dark place, too, on edge, ripe with my anger and unwilling to be submissive to him. Challenging his silent message of control, I reach for his shirt with my free hand and he shackles my wrist as well and tears his mouth from mine. Our eyes lock, the sound of our heavy breathing filling the air and the motion of the elevator I didn’t even know was moving swaying our bodies. The floor vibrates slightly beneath our feet and I sense, rather than see, the doors behind Chris slide open, but still we stand there, still we stare at each other.

“They don’t get to tell you who I am,” he says. His voice is a rough growl, low and tight. “I do. I tell you and I show you so you get the truth, not their fabrication of it.” A muscle in his jaw flexes. “Understand?”

My anger and fear dissolve instantly. He’s not pulling away from me. He’s angry that Amber and Tristan might taint my view of him when he’s already convinced I’ll hate him before this discovery process is over.
“Do you understand?” he demands when I apparently don’t answer fast enough.

This time I don’t fight the bark of his order, understanding the desperateness beneath its surface. “Yes. Yes. Chris, I—”

His fingers tangle in my hair again, tugging my head back in that deliciously rough way he does. Dark Chris calls to me and I no longer fight answering. “Do not go there without me again.” His voice is gravelly; raw like the emotion I’ve seen in his face and tasted on his lips.

“Me going there wasn’t what you think it was, Chris.”

His eyes flash with disapproval. He is not pleased, or accepting, of what I’ve said, and his mouth closes down on mine, punishing, controlling. His tongue thrusting and tasting, before he repeats his words, his fingers stroking my breasts, teasing my nipple. “Do not go there again without me, Sara.”

“I won’t.” The words come out a hoarse groan as his hand strokes a path up and down my side, and back over my breast. His touch is heavy, the air thick, and I’m certain he isn’t convinced. “I won’t go back without you.”
His fingers curl around my neck and he stares down at me, searching my face with such intensity it feels as if he’s seeing straight to my soul. And I welcome the invasion. I welcome him. Seconds tick by, and I have no idea what he sees or doesn’t see in me, but he drags my mouth to his and kisses me.

The silky hot stroke of his tongue is a shot of adrenaline and desire that spikes through my body and creates a tingling sensation from head to toe. I shudder with pleasure and drink him in, tasting the bittersweet hunger in him, the anger and torment. I burn to touch him beyond where my fingers rest on his chest, to feel hard muscle flex beneath my fingers. But control is his outlet of choice when there is no whip, no pain. And I am no longer angry, no longer rebelling against his demands. No longer fighting his need for an outlet I have long ached for him to know he has with me, in me.

I tremble with the caress of his hand over my waist, traveling to my hip, and curving around my backside to firmly pull me hard against his thick erection. His palm skims upward to the small of my back, and flattens, molding me even closer. I moan into his mouth and he groans in response, his tongue delving deeply, hot with growing demand, with a palpable urgency. And his hands are everywhere, touching me, stroking me, caressing me, driving me wild and, before I know what’s happening, he’s shoving my jeans down my legs. I blink and my boots are gone and I’m half-naked in an elevator with the doors locked open.
I might have protested our location, asked to move to another room, but Chris turns me to the wall and his hands slide, slow and firm, possessively down my waist and over my hips. Feeling his gaze rake over my body, I am wet and weak in the knees.

He cups my cheeks from behind and steps forward, pressing his lips to my ear. “Tonight, I want to spank you, but I won’t. Not when it would be punishment. I won’t ever do that to you. But don’t think that means I won’t want to.”

I understand Chris. I don’t know how or why but, deep in our souls, we connect, and I know what he is doing. He’s showing me a hard exterior but all I see is vulnerability, a need that tonight has sparked, to show me a darker, more dangerous side of himself, and have me not run for cover. “You can’t scare me away, Chris. So throw all the words you want at me. I’m still here. I’m still not going anywhere. And in case you forgot, I liked it when you spanked me.”

His hand finds my stomach and then presses deeper between my legs, until his fingers tease my clit. “Maybe this time I’ll tie you up and flog you.”

“Do it.” His fingers stroke into the silky wet V of my body, and I am panting, barely able to speak, but I swallow and somehow finish my challenge. “The more you push me, the more I push back, Chris.”

He nips my earlobe and I can feel him unzipping his pants. “So you say,” he murmurs.

“So I know.” Throwing caution to the wind, I press onward, trying to unleash the pent-up energy in him he bottles until it later explodes. “Only one of us is running. Only one of us is afraid of what I have yet to discover, Chris.”

The air crackles and his hand goes to my waist, fingers flexing into my flesh, and I revel in the certainty I’ve succeeded in taking him to the edge. “You think I’m running?” he demands.

“No. I think you’re trying to make me run so you can blame me if we fail.”

His cock presses between my legs. “Does that feel like I want you to run?” He enters me, driving hard inside me without any prelude. “Does that?” And then he is thrusting, reaching around me to meld his hand to my breast, holding onto it, and me. He thrusts again, burying himself, with a fieriness that outreaches pure physical need. Oh yes, I have made him angry and I am glad. I want this side of him, I want all of him. And damn it, he just keeps trying to deny me. He keeps trying to hold back and, yes, he keeps trying to make me run.

I press my hand to his hand where it’s melded to my breast, teasing me, holding him there, holding on and not planning to ever let go. Pleasure splinters through me with each thrust of his cock, each moment he’s buried deep inside me. Sensation after sensation begins in my sex and rushes through nerve endings. I am lost in how he feels, how I feel, and I arch into him, my muscles clench around him, and then I cannot breathe. My orgasm takes me by surprise, enveloping me, consuming me. I rise to the top of it far too quickly and come down far too hard and fast, but just in time to feel Chris shudder, his body tensing with his release. He stills, burying his face in my neck, and his body slowly relaxes. For several moments he holds me there, and I’m not sure either of us breathes, let alone speaks or moves. I am not sure what to say or what to do next.

Abruptly, he pulls out of me, and I don’t know why, but an unusual sense of complete, utter emptiness washes over me. The “why” is answered when I start to turn to find him already headed out of the elevator. I stare after him, knots balling in my stomach. Maybe I pushed the wrong buttons. Maybe I pushed him to far or too hard. Maybe I made a mistake.

I highly recommend this book.

As always I enjoyed this book by Lisa.

Note: If you have NOT read BEING ME, do not read this novella until after you have read BEING ME.

This book is written in Mark’s POV.  We met Mark before and learned a little about him.  Some things were good and some not so good.  But this book you learn more about what he feels.

Mark’s story picks up right from where BEING ME ended.  With him trying to deal with what happened to Rebecca.  He is wounded inside.  He is busy questioning how he felt about Rebecca and if he is capable of love.
He decides he must stay away from woman.  He has decided he cannot have sex and that is his normal drug of choice and that is what got him in trouble in the first place.

He is on his way to see his mother who has Stage 3 Breast Cancer.  She needs surgery so he must fly to New Your to see her through it.  When his plane lands the new head of sales, Crystal Smith, is there to meet him.  His is intrigued by her and she pushes all of his buttons.

She disobeys almost every one of his commands.  She calls him Mark when normally he makes everyone call him “Mr. Compton”.  Will she send him on a downward spiral that will make him lose all control?

My Review:
4.0 Star Review –

I recommend this book.

This book is a retelling of Reconnected written in Liam’s POV.

If you have not read “Reconnected” I would recommend reading it first.  If not you might be confused about really how Katy is feeling.

Liam Warren and Katy Parker high school sweethearts eloped to Vegas very young at 18.  Liam is acting in a local theater when he is discovered.  As Liam is making a named for himself he doesn’t realize that he is pushing Katy away.  One night Katy tells him she is leaving but he doesn’t believe her.  The next day he goes about his day working on set.  When he gets home he finds her note that states she has left him.  He looks all over for her at the house and at their hometown but cannot find her.

Months after she left he has a drunken encounter with a co-star and regrets it right away as he feels as if he cheated on Katy.  The co-star does not believe he does not want her.  She continues to bother him for years.

4 years later—-

Liam and his best friend Scott are sharing a house.  Scott tries to get Liam to date and attend parties but they end up leaving the parties early and playing video games.  Everywhere Liam goes he looks for Katy.  He doesn’t want someone new he just wants his Katy back.

They go to Georgia to shoot a film and while on the college campus he sees Katy.  He chases her down and introduces himself to her boyfriend as her husband.   After stating she wants a divorce she runs off.

Liam spends time while not shooting trying to get Katy to take him back.  He tries to prove he has changed and the only person he wants to be with is Katy.  Liam and Scott take Katy and her best friend Krista out on a double date that gets cut short.

As he continues to film his movie Katy is freaked out when the pap take photos of her and her best friend Krista.  Liam and Scott decide to hire bodyguards for the girls.

But Liam’s co-star Alexia is really beginning to become a problem as every chance she gets she touches him.  She also thinks Liam will be with her if Katy was not around.

When Alexia has a meltdown and runs Katy, Krista, and Lucas off the road. Liam blames himself, for the accident and the fact Alexia thinks if she got rid of Katy he would be with her.

As the book goes on you really get a feel for Liam. In the first book at time he seemed a little stiff and at other times cocky I was not sure if I even liked him. But by the end of this book I really liked him.

5 Star Review – Escaping Reality

I highly recommend this book.

As always I enjoyed this book by Lisa.

This is really a steamy sexy book with some suspense.  A little advice, don’t try to guess what is going to happen next as Lisa loves to throw you off and keep you guessing.  She moves on as you are sitting there saying WHAT?  I could not put the book down.  At the end I was still trying to turn the page…..   I thought there is no way Lisa would leave us hanging…..

The suspense pulls you right in from the start.  Amy who is in hiding has been in danger and needs to get out of town.

For the past 6 years Amy has believed she is doing good and hiding well.  She is working at a museum in New York and has good friends and also believes she is safe.  One night during a party she finds a note taped to a mirror from her handler.  She must go on the run.  Leave everyone behind and move to a new city.  Her handler who has previously saved her has left her instructions in a locker to go to Denver with a new identity.  Her new name is Amy Benson.

While waiting in the airport for the plane she notices a handsome man that she wishes is she was different and not on the run she could get to know.  After getting on the plane is realizes that they are sitting next to each other.  Liam Stone is an architect.  He is nice and doesn’t push when she doesn’t open up.  She can feel herself getting attached and trusting him which terrifies her.   She escapes off the plane before him as he was going to go to baggage claim with her but he finds her outside the airport.  He takes her to her apartment to verify it is okay and no one is going to get her as he can feel she is running from something.

When she gets to her apartment her handler has not supplied her with the usual information about work and money.  She gets information from the leasing office in a package about a job but wonders if the job is even real.  She starts to question is she can trust her handler.

Jared Ryan her neighbor from across the hall seems familiar.  While talking to him he mentions he is from Texas which is where she is from originally.  Is he out to hurt her?

She is so afraid to like or be friends with anyone as everyone she has ever loved has been killed.  If she pushes everyone away at least they will be alive.

Every time she is out shopping or running errands in the town she feels as if someone is watching her.

She tries to push Liam away but he can see through her and knows she does not really want to be alone.  Can she hope that Liam will be someone she can trust?

As she remembers more of her past with her mother, father, and brother (Chad) she has more blackouts.  You find out her name was Lara.  Can she spill her secrets to Liam and depend on him?  Or is he out to get her also?

Okay for the ending I just have to say cliff hanger of epic proportions.

I cannot wait see what happens.  Hurry Lisa we are all waiting for the next book….

Excerpt: “Do you have a ride to wherever you’re going?”

“A friend is picking me up,” I croak out, and the lie is like wet cotton in my throat. He wants this…this whatever we started to continue and so do I, but I can’t know his real motivation any more than I can risk his safety by being seen with him.

“Male or female?”

I blink, snapping back to the present. “What? Male or female?”

“Your friend picking you up. Male or female?”

I know the safe answer is “male”. I know that if his motivation for the question is simple male interest, it will discourage him, and still I hear myself say, “Female.”

His eyes darken, heat, and I think he’s pleased with my answer. “I’ll help you with your bags.”

“No, I—”

“I’m helping you with your bags, Amy.”

There is command in his voice, and I am instantly, unbelievably aroused, and pleased at his insistence, when I should be running for the hills. I will run for the hills when the doors open. “Thank you,” I murmur and turn away from him, afraid he will read my intentions to flee. Quickly, I make sure my folder and bag are intact, sliding the leather strap over my shoulder, and I am ready for action.

The plane parks at the gate, and Liam stretches his long, perfect body to retrieve my bag from the overhead compartment. Once he hands it to me, I lift the handle and tell myself to make my escape, but for a moment I am frozen in regret over leaving him. Too soon, he jerks his bag free, and I am out of time. A man moves between myself and Liam and I take the opportunity to dart for the exit. I don’t look back. I want to look back.
A few minutes later, I am outside in a cab line that stretches a good fifteen cab lengths long, with no actual cars in sight. Thanks to several conventions and some Hollywood event, it appears I have plenty of time to savor my regret over leaving Liam behind. And I do. I savor it like I would water in a desert.

I’m busying contemplating how good he might have tasted when a black Town Car stops directly beside me. The door opens and to my shock Liam steps out and grabs my bag. “Come with me,” he orders, and he doesn’t give me time to argue.

I haven’t moved yet and he’s already at the trunk where the driver lifts my bag to deposit it inside. I consider leaving it behind and running. I should leave it and run. I charge toward him and meet him at the back door.
My chin lifts and he is taller than I realized, and his sleek goatee is impossibly sexy, nearly distracting me from my anger. “You can’t just take my bag and demand I come with you.”

“And yet that’s exactly what I did. Get in the car, Amy.”

I bristle at the command. “I don’t know you.”

His piercing blue eyes darken. “I have every intention of remedying that.”

A thrill shoots through me at the obvious promise that he will be my lover, and there is no denying that I am seduced by this man, drawn to his confidence and dark good looks. To the gentle lion I believe will take control of everything around him, including me. The man who will demand much of me, and perhaps take more than I should give. And yet, beyond all reason, I want to experience those things. I want to experience him. It almost feels…necessary.
