Excerpt

A knock on my window has me jumping out of my memory and out of my skin. Looking around I see I’m parked. Guess I was so out of it and involved in my daydream I don’t even remember doing it. I turn toward the knocking and see Mason standing there with a concerned look on his cute face. I step out the car and lock it, but don’t make a move to walk toward him because his attire catches me off guard. Instead of his usual logo t-shirt and jeans, he’s wearing a dark green polo and fitted khaki pants. He’s even sporting some Sperry’s on his feet. Now it feels like a date because we are both dressed up. However, I always dress like this. Well, not exactly like this. I mean I don’t always wear something so tight, but I’ll be fat in a few months and won’t be able to fit into it anymore. It’s a mid thigh sweater dress with a swoop neck that’s the same shade of pink as my lipstick. I have a thin brown belt around my waist and matching five-inch heeled boots that reach my calves. I decided against the tights though because I seem to be having hot flashes lately. We stand there for what feels like forever staring at one another. How did we go from comfortable conversation to uncomfortable silence? Before I can compliment on his clothes I hear someone call his name. I look in the direction at the same time he does and see a girl about my age or older with dark, brown hair in a stylish pixie cut walking our way. She’s staring me down with her creepy golden eyes like I’m a threat. Oh hell no! I straighten my shoulders and do what I do best. Not take shit. I’ve never let anyone see my insecurities except for one and that will be the last time, because people like to play on your weaknesses. She finally looks toward Mason when she reaches us and smiles sweetly. “Here idiot. You almost left your phone.” She hands it to him and bumps his shoulder with hers playfully. I see some type of relationship here, but I’m not sure if it’s a romantic one or not. “Shit. Sorry about that.” He turns toward me smiling and is completely unaware of the bitch stare this girl is still giving me. “Jazz this is Chanda. Chanda this is Jazz.” Chanda? What kind of name is that? I internally slap myself for acting like I care. Because I shouldn’t and don’t. Only my friends call me Jazz and I have a feeling Chanda and I will not be a friend any time soon if ever. I stick out my hand gracing her with the manners my parents raised me with. “Please call me Jasmine. Nice to meet you Chanda.” Ignoring my polite introduction and protruded hand she looks at Mason. “Remember, I need to be at work at midnight.” Then she walks away. “Well she’s lovely.” I lower my hand and shake off the embarrassment before I get back in my car. Watching Mason walk around to get in I fight down the urge to drive over Chanda while her backs turned. I have a feeling this won’t be the last time the compulsion crosses my mind with that bitch.

FML is becoming Avery’s motto. Just when she doesn’t think things could get any worse, they do. When her car stalls out at a busy intersection and she gets out to check under the hood, a guy steals her car. Armed with a dress and a pair of Chucks, Avery runs after the thief. When a hot stranger offers to help, she can’t say no. That’s how Avery meets Sean Ferro, the totally sexy, totally damaged guy with more secrets than she has time for. Avery doesn’t have time for anything anymore. Her life falling apart and it’s not just the car. It’s everything, and it doesn’t matter how tightly she tries to hold on, there’s nothing left to hold on to. With the sudden death of her parents, it’s only a matter of months until Avery’s shot at college is gone, and she’s living in a cardboard box. Other students have their families to rely on when things get bad. Avery has no one. But there’s one option, one incredibly sexy, morally devoid, option. If Avery takes a job as a call girl, one guy could save her. One client. One time. She just has to say yes.

Cody Garrett, a former Navy SEAL, has never met a skirt he didn’t fancy. His six-pack, rugged looks and bad boy image ensures a steady stream of hot babes waiting to slip him their phone numbers wherever he goes.

So, he is confused when Bridie Barker refuses to go on a date with him.

It’s not like she’s a stunning beauty or something. According to him, her ears are big, she’s well-rounded and she’s not even a D-cup.

In spite of her shortcomings, the more she pushes him away, the more he finds himself thinking of her.

Twenty-year-old Bridie Barker has control issues. Every detail in her life is planned.

Her closet is color-coded and she has an array of storage containers, to ensure that everything is in its correct place.

Her whole world is black and white, and grey areas are a no-no.

When she meets the warm and grounded Scott Garrett, she thinks she has found her soulmate. Unfortunately, and to her disappointment, things don’t pan out with Scott.

While waiting tables, she has a disastrous run-in with his brother, Wild Boy Cody Garrett, King of Body Shots, who parties every night with a different girl.

Even though he’s good to look at and makes her laugh, she turns down his advances as he’s clearly the tag-and-release kind of guy.

Besides, she is pretty sure he owns not a single storage container, and she’s certain that his closet is not color-coded.

Problem is, Cody Garrett finds her rejection an aphrodisiac and pursues her.

Excerpt:

My urge to destroy returned with a vengeance. I turned my Hummer around.

“Where you going to, Cody?” my mother demanded, her voice frantic.

I didn’t answer, but hit the gas and gunned the Hummer toward Bridie’s old place.

“Cody, where are you going?” my dad demanded.

I stared ahead as I floored it.

“Cody, just stop!” Jenna said. “I know where you’re going! You stop right now, Cody!”

Ignoring all their pleas, I drove on until I pulled up into the parking lot outside Bridie’s old place.

Just in time – I spotted her standing outside Scott’s Roadster in the parking lot.

Scott was still in the driver’s seat, talking on his phone.

I braked and without killing the engine, I hopped out of my Hummer.

Within seconds, my family was running behind me, pleading with me to leave them alone.

Bridie spotted me first. “Cody!” she mouthed, fear in her eyes.

I picked up a brick from the side of the road and walked toward Scott.

“Cody!” Bridie screamed. “What are you doing? STOP!”

I ignored her and walked over to my brother. I was going to smash his skull with the brick until his brains lay all over his Roadster.

His window was opened. Good. When he saw me above him, brick high up in the air, ready to hit him with it, he dropped his phone.

I raised the brick to smash it down his face.

His eyes grew large.

“CODY, NO!” Bridie screamed.

When I looked into Scott’s eyes, I wavered.

He stared, I glared.

I willed myself to do it, to kill Scott.

But I couldn’t do it. He was still my brother.

Even though he stole my girl, even though he hurt me like no one in this world had ever hurt me, I couldn’t hurt him.

How I wished he was some other ahole at that moment.

Frustrated, I booted in the Roadster’s door three times. The door caved into him.

Scott tried to open his door, but the door wouldn’t budge.

He scrambled toward the passenger’s side and tried to open that door, but I dropped the brick and pushed the Roadster until it fell onto its side.

“What are you doing, CODY?” Bridie screamed.

With the Roadster on its side and Scott trying to boot out the BMW’s windshield, I spun around to look at Bridie.

With eyes as big as saucers, she walked backward. “Cody, stop, please!”

I walked faster. She turned and broke into a run, away from me.

There’s no way she could outrun me. I raced after her. She ran faster and in a bad move, toward my Hummer. I caught up with her and grabbed her hair.

“Where the hell are you going to, sister-in-law? Huh? We need to talk.”

“No, leave me alone!” she cried as she tried to free her hair from my fingers.

“You owe me an explanation,” I said, as I dragged her to the Hummer and shoved her into it. I got into the driver’s seat and sped off.

Behind me, Jenna, my mother, and father were running after the Hummer, screaming my name. I didn’t stop.

“Slow down, Cody!” Bridie cried.

“Why? Why should I, huh? Let us both die. Today. NOW!” I stepped on the gas.

“CODY, PLEASE STOP!” she begged.

I flashed her a mirthless smile. “Scared? Huh?”

“Why are you doing this?” She was crying now.

“Because I thought I was in a bad dream, but guess what; it’s true, my brother and my GIRL! Not a dream, honey, just my reality.”

“Cody…”

“Why the hell are you CRYING?” I yelled.

“Cody, I don’t understand; you cheated on me. Why are you acting like you’re so cut, huh?”

“Cheated on you? What are you talking about, BRIDIE? I never cheated on you.”

“You did!”

“When? When did I cheat on you, huh? You talking about that stupid body shot? That was cheating? Huh?”

“No, not the body shot, Cody. The night of the party – you cheated with Nicole!”

“What are you talking about, Bridie? You’re hallucinating. I did not cheat with Nicole.”

“Yes, you did, Cody! I walked into your room and saw you both in bed. I left straight away.”

I shook my head in disbelief. She could lie so blatantly? Fury overtook me. I locked the steering wheel of the Hummer. It slid across the road like it was on snow.

“Today, both of us are going to die,” I warned.

Excerpt

“Excuse me ladies.” The voice comes from nowhere and I look around spotting Amber first with her jaw on the ground. She’s speechless, this never happens with her. My eyes roam to find what’s got her in a comatose state and standing right in front of us is a guy in Wranglers so tight it should be a crime and a baby blue dress shirt with those snap buttons. This guy is playing this cowboy part a little too seriously. His boots are even worn like they are the only pair of shoes he owns. Oh brother, is he kidding me? I roll my eyes while Ambers jaw is still on the floor.

She slowly closes her mouth and manages a weak smile. “Hi.”

My eyes feel like they are constantly rolling, this is a damn joke. We’re next at the concession stand and I lean forward asking for a Bud Light. The girl hands me a big plastic cup filled to the brim. Thank you God. I take a big sip letting the cool liquid slide down my throat. I look back to see he’s still standing there and he’s looking at me. Practically staring. His green eyes are sparkling like emeralds and it takes a second before I’m able to tear mine away.

“I’m Wesley.” That drawl in his voice is almost making me swoon but I stop it. He extends his hand out to me. I can practically hear Amber scoff and I’m agreeing with her. Why isn’t this guy talking to her? I am no where near ready to speak to another guy.

Baffled, I just stand there trying to decipher what’s going on. “I’m Amber, this is Hope.” Amber interjects and I shoot daggers at her begging her to shut up. She’s smiling, and I know exactly what she’s doing.

“Nice to meet you Hope. I won’t bite, I swear. I may nibble and that’s it.” Oh man Wesley sure has some nerve! I’m rolling my eyes again and I’m really praying he doesn’t notice because I’m not trying to be rude.

“Nice to meet you too,” I mumble.

“I hope you like the rodeo tonight.” He says never taking his emerald green eyes away from mine. The intensity of his stare takes my breath away.

Sneak Peek

beautiful failure pre cover reveal 4

~Synopsis~

If you’re looking for a heartwarming story about a girl who falls deeply in love with a troubled boy who changes her life–a sob story with pretty metaphors and a million ways that’ll tell you how “broken” she is, STOP. Don’t read another word of this. I’m not that type of girl. My name is Emerald Anderson and I’m not going to bullshit you: I flunked out of college after my sophomore year, I’ve been fired from every job I’ve ever taken, and I’ve never had a fully functioning relationship in my life. I wish I could say that I had a cheerleader in my corner, someone who says, “No, Emerald–You’re great and you are good at something!” but I don’t. My grandparents are completely oblivious to my life, and my mother’s dying words to me were “You’re going to end up just like me one day. A beautiful nothing.” She was right. As I decide to start my life over and take two jobs that will forever change me–one from the inside, and one from the outside, I keep my mother’s words close to my heart so I can keep the sexy and mysterious Carter Black away. He’s the first man who’s ever pursued me, the first man who seems bent on finding out why I am the way I am, but he’s wasting his time. I’m not broken. I don’t need to be fixed. I’m perfectly fine with being a beautiful failure…

Excerpt

My mother hardly ever lectured or disciplined me, but she did teach me three very important lessons: 1.) “Always put tons of effort into the way you look. You need to be beautiful on the outside, no matter how fucked up you are on the inside. If you ever feel sad or depressed, suck that shit up and add more mascara.” 2.) “Don’t make friends. Make sponsors. If you can’t get anything out of someone or use them for a specific purpose, kick that person out of your life ASAP.” 3.) “Beauty wins over brains every time. Your body will always be your most important asset. Remember that.”

[Release Blast & Giveaway] Reclaim My Heart by Donna Fasano

 photo DFRerelBanner_zpscb177693.jpg

Now with Montlake Romance – Release Day TODAY 12 November, 2013
On becoming a Montlake Author:

Let me tell you about my wonderful publishing experience! I have to back up a little bit… to this past spring. I self-published a romance titled Reclaim My Heart. The book received great reviews immediately, and it sold well from the beginning. Very well. In fact, during the first week of August I was enjoying a mug of coffee while perusing the USA Today Bestseller’s List (my usual Thursday morning routine), and I nearly choked when I saw that Reclaim My Heart was sitting at #123 on the list. A couple of days later I was contacted by an editor from Montlake. She told me she’d read one of my books months before and had been keeping an eye on me. She said she’d read Reclaim My Heart and loved it. Now, what author doesn’t love to hear that? She made an offer I couldn’t refuse. The Montlake editor and the design team loved the cover that was on the indie version of the book; however, Amazon had trouble licensing the rights to the image. So we searched for weeks before finding the picture that’s on the current cover. I love it! And I hope my readers do, too. I’m happy to be writing romance novels for Montlake. I feel wanted and appreciated, and it can’t get much better than that in the publishing industry!

About The Book :

Sixteen years ago, Tyne Whitlock cut all ties to her past and left town under the shameful shadow of a teenage pregnancy. Now her fifteen-year-old son is in trouble with the law, and she is desperate for help. But reaching out to high-powered attorney Lucas Silver Hawk will tear open the heart-wrenching past in ways Tyne never imagined. Forced to return to the Delaware Indian community where Lucas was raised, Tyne and Lucas are tempted by the heated passion that consumed them as teens. Tyne rediscovers all the reasons she found this man irresistible, but there are scandalous secrets waiting to be revealed, disgraceful choices made in the past that cannot be denied. Love is a powerful force that could heal them both—if the truth doesn’t rip them apart.

Excerpt
From Chapter Two”Oh, wait. There’s someone here to see you.” He frowned. “I don’t have time today.” “I know, I know.” Martha looked apologetic. “I tried to explain that your schedule is packed, but she insisted on waiting—” “She?” Martha glanced down at a pad on her desktop. “A Ms. Whitlock. Tyne Whitlock.” Lucas stared. Blinked. Then he reached up and tugged at his tie, wondering who the hell shut off the room’s air supply. “She’s waiting in your office. I tried to tell her your schedule was full, but…” Concern sharpened Martha’s tone. “Are you all right? She said she knew you. That you were old friends. That she’d only take a minute of your time. Should I not have let her in?” Martha droned on and he watched her lips move, but he didn’t hear a word of what she said. A blind-sided punch wouldn’t have stunned him more than hearing that name. He lifted his hand and nodded at Martha to let her know everything was okay even though he had no idea if it was or not, then he turned and headed down the corridor. “Don’t forget Larry and Nate. They’re waiting!” Martha’s warning sounded like a distant echo. Tyne. Here. In this building. In his office. What had it been? Twelve, thirteen… no. Sixteen years. He scrubbed his fingers across his jaw. He turned the corner and came to an abrupt halt. At the end of the corridor, the door of his office stood ajar. He saw Tyne’s perfect profile as she sat in a straight-backed chair staring at something out of his line of view. In an instant, Lucas was catapulted into the past. Darkness surrounded them like a cloak. Tyne’s soft sobs tore at his heart. Of all the girls he’d dated—and there had been more than a few—only she brought out in him a fierce compulsion to protect. He swiped away her tears, the dark color of his thumb a stark contrast against her creamy white skin. “I don’t understand them, Lucas. I never will.” “Don’t worry,” he crooned. “It’s going to be all right. Trust me, babe. They can’t keep us apart. You’ll be eighteen soon too. We can do what we want then. Go wherever we want.” He cradled her, his back supported by the massive pin oak. And when she stopped crying, she pulled away from him and gazed into his eyes. Her sweet face wrenched his heart and caused heat to spark his desire. Never had he wanted a girl the way he wanted Tyne. Raw need coursed through him. She cradled his face between her palms and drew him to her. Her lips were hot against his. The kiss grew hungry, their breathing labored. “Our love will last forever,” she whispered against his mouth. He heard the question in her quavery tone, responded to her need for reassurance. “Forever,” he groaned, tugging her down onto the mossy ground. Lucas tilted his head to stare at the carpet in front of his shoes and gulped in the artificially-cooled air as he dragged his way out of the past. The grip he had on his attaché case made his hand throb almost as much as the memory had caused his groin to go all achy and needful. Of course, their love hadn’t lasted forever. He was within steps of the door when Tyne glanced in his direction. Nuances of various emotions passed across her face. And it was a striking face, Lucas couldn’t deny it. The years had refined her features— She stood, smoothing her palms across the fabric of her skirt. —and ripened her body. Her eyes were the same vivid blue he remembered, and her white-blond hair was still long and straight. He could easily recall the silky feel of it brushing against his bare chest. As teens, he’d thought of them as the perfect juxtaposition: she, all sunshine and light, he, dark like the night. He forced his gaze back onto her face. “Tyne.” He entered his office, puzzled by the strain in his voice. What really confused him was the fact that he couldn’t seem to get his tongue to form anything more. “Hi, Lucas. It’s been a long time.” Her lush mouth pressed into a nervous smile, and his gut tensed. He wanted to smile back. He truly did. With every fiber of his being. To let her know that he’d survived the sprawling interim since they’d parted just as well as she obviously had. But he couldn’t smile. Couldn’t speak. Couldn’t think.
